  • Quake Style Console in Windows

I've always wanted one. Turns out, it's pretty simple.

    Here's the instructions.

And here's a few themes for it...
    Quake console
    Matrix console

I could see this being useful in Linux definitely, even in windows 95/98.

Though this would be a step back for average Windows XP users unless they were doing some type of programming and compiling then it would make sense.

In other words, this is a pretty neat gimmick

/ starts to miss his shitbox-98 it might have been a shitbox, but it has windows98 wich had dos and etc. so he could play doom and run the original quake engine in full screen, but then it lost its sound and it turn out plaing doom is hard with no sound ... oh well

ya this looks cool, i'll try it for the fun [reminds him of dos]

There's quite a lot you can do at the win console; as a basic run command, batch scripting, telnet, etc.. I'm using ircII on it atm (on vista).

I agree though, the average windows user has no use for it, really.

[QUOTE=metchsteekle;48184]could play doom and run the original quake engine in full screen/QUOTE]

You can do all those things on XP and Vista. There is still a DOS console

For doom in any flavor of windows, have you tried doom legacy or any of the other engine updates?

Doomsday was the best at one point. It's been a while though.

The last legitimate DOS was 6.22 , the command prompt in XP is nothing more than emulated DOS prompt.

Sure, you can do the same things, but they are not the same by no means
