  • New DeathMatch Server up in TX - dm.quaketx.com

    Hey all,

I put a new Clan Ring Mod Deathmatch server up in the DFW area.

    Address: dm.quaketx.com
    Port: 26000

This is a proquake server running on Debian 5 x64.
Please add it to the server list.

It's currently hosted with rackspace, but I am not dead set on hosting it there. I had a couple of development servers sitting around and thought I would devote one of them to quake. I would appreciate it if the dm community would test it out and let me know what they think in terms of ping, stability, smoothness and so on.

I also added a few custom maps: Aerowalk, q1edge, ztdm3, q3dm6qw and so on.

Nice Tremor, that's awesome of you I know some of the DM3 players have expressed want in a Texas location since the hdz dm is not that great.

Best of luck, I'll be testing it out

      Cool man.
I want it to be good for everyone, and I know that's not always possible..if I get too many complaints, I might migrate hosts. I'll just have to wait on reports. =)

Mag, thanks for testing. Do you ping similarly to other servers in TX?

I ping about 100 to it from northeastern Ohio.

Using dos ping since yayotexas seems to be down:

                avg to dm.quaketx.com: 58
                avg to yayotexas.quakeone.com: 47

In game though i recall it being the same. quaketx seems very smooth though, equally as yayo..

So, i'd say it works well.

Yeah, about a 10ms difference here too between yayo and quaketx in the cmd prompt. Not a huge deal though, they both seem fine.

Thanks Efess, for adding it to the browser.

Mr Burns, very cool. I'm kinda surprised it can go as low as 130 for you.

Wow that's pathetic... I ping 100 but Burnsy pings 130, and I'm not even crossing any oceans...

Damn I live in a shitass area for getting good pings to anywhere...

I feel your pain, Foq. My ISP used to be Cox until Suddenlink bought them out. I live in Texas. Anywhere in Texas I pinged 30ms. Now, after the Suddenlink takeover, I find that they are routing me through chicago. I now ping 70-80 in Texas and 90-100 anywhere else.
