  • Quake won't stretch across my screen at 640x480

And other resolutions too. I'm on a new format and I have big black boxes to the either side of my quake. Why won't quake wide screen maximize? I'm on PQ 3.5

Try putting -width 1440 -height 900 in your command line or whatever your monitor's native resolution is.

Update: Got it to stretch with 1280 x 800 but it has also been doing this weird thing where my screen flashes with very large thick lavender horizontal bars that move. This happens every 30 seconds to a minute or so. Any ideas what this bug is? Quake is in compatibility mode for windows xp.

no, compatibility mode isn't required. All the newer clients are updated.

                  ProQuake 451 comes with

                  d3dpro451.exe <- should work flawlessly
dx8pro451.exe <- should work flawlessly (recommend)
                  glpro451.exe <- should work.
wqpro451.exe <- should work, unless your on ATi/AMD ,they hate software variants.

this is my experience with ProQuake451
