  • Anywhere and anyway to find and play the Quake soundtrack?

I was listening to some of Trent Reznor's random ambience tracks and then I remembered "Hey this dude made the kickass Quake soundtrack".

How would I get said tracks and play them in DP? My CD is buried somewhere within my attic, it would be a little adventure in itself to find it again.

    Thanks for your help!

Converting them to ogg and throwing them into id1\sound\cdtracks and naming them track000.ogg, etc.

I can't provide a link since ... well ... those are not "free" but I can provide some Googling advice for self-help:

The tracks have to be encoded corectly as well.
I keep killing sound on my linux build when I try to do this in DP.
encoding to 44100 or quality 8 in the ogg encoder.
Is there any spec we should be using for this?

And what music file editors have this "Quality 8"? And is it an issue that only happens to DP?

Got it! Thanks for telling me that. Music obtained (and hopefully in it's specific format or whatever), about to be put into id1.

*EDIT*: Can I just save the .pk3 file into cdtracks? And if not, how can I open a .pk3?

Just put the .pk3 into the ID1 folder then it should work.

I rip my CDs to flac for me this is best.
I am using a script to convert my audio files on my Linux box, so I just right clik and choose convert to whatever format I need and choose the quality I want.
I have custom soundtracks for different types of mods, for instance if I am playing Coop type stuff I have a horror type playlist.
If its CA or DM I am in the mood for I run a Heavy Metal set.
I am never standing still and I Quake across several mods and computers and even OS's as I just gotta have it on hand where ever I go!
I would recommend Audacity for a sound editor though if I
knew the spec, but it prolly changes client to client as well.
