I actually wish people played regular DM more. Everyone says RuneQuake is more challenging but I disagree. It's all about picking up the right rune and grappling everywhere. To me DM is more challenging because of actually having to get to the power ups in the map the way your meant to, you have a reason to bunny hop and rocket jump.

Would love to relive my Quake 64 DM days on computer but not many people play regular DM anymore ;-;

I'd play DM, I use to play all kinds of mods from PainKeep to Capture the scrag to Slide<- I've also been playing Quake since August 17th 1996 and like to think while I might not be the best player, I do know my sh!t.

There isn't much real competition type play in the main stream Quaker's day but if you look off to the sides of the community you'll find people setting up their own events.

My main mod these days is Clan Arena (rage.quakeone.com,speaknow.quakeone.com) no downloads necessary, connect and play, since I play for fun I don't see need to re-learn DM to compete in a higher level then "leisurely" playing.

I'll jump on a fav server if i see someone else and I have time to spend.

Also I suggest you watch out for my axe.

I call bullshit. We used to have a ton of female online players. Including one you trained in CA, who was definitely in the top 40%.

[I'm thinking the evil female Quake player you refer to was Paradise, who was pretty formidable and then suffered some sort of extreme meltdown in the forums. I even quit as an admin for a couple of weeks because I was one of her close personal friends and she kept insisting I ban someone she hated but couldn't beat in DM and kept owning her. I don't do that kind of thing and me quitting as admin make her berserk with anger.]

We lost the female players at the same time we lost all the other "normal people" due to a crappy lack of consistent cross-server administration at the time. I will not say more and no I don't mean a recent name, we used to have 5-6 really antisocial players (abusive scumbags) who no one had any empathy for back in the "Wild Wild West" days but as server administration was fragmented those losers always had a place to play and kept alienating our new player base.

I should have left her where I found her. Along with Solecord.

Feels like she was really better off where she was.

Though she could have been much better, I could tell.

To bad she self destructed into a million pieces.


Tuesday, you can play Quake whenever you want, Girls are obviously allowed to play Quake as long as they follow the rules like everyone else has to.

I suggest you MOD hop and don't get settled into one specific MOD, because then you will whined up like the rest where they're good at one mod but can't find their nose on another mod.

My momma didn't tell me girls aren't allowed to play Quake and I don't feel girls shouldn't play Quake, they're actually more fun to Quake with then some others as they usually don't carry the "macho-man" attitude and I've only seen 1 female talking trash on Quake in a LONG while.. Maybe because i only know of one other female Quaker (Gothiccandy a.k.a Gothic). there are more but I just don't know them or have any interaction with them since the only play RuneQuake or Single player.

But yeah, RuneQauke CAN be fun, it's just not as strategically oriented as DM or CAX since you tend to focus on which rune you have that can cause the most un-direct damage(deathspots, radioaxtive clouds, BFG? BFG-mini rockets etc etc etc.. It's super noobie friendly but if you're looking for the big leagues then RQ isn't the spot. It's really up to you and wherever you end up playing I just hope you have a good time and plan on staying with us!

Keep practicing because, I see alot of skill potential when i've played against you in shmack.. I'm no where near the best im average on a good day. A few things people told me to do while practicing is learn the maps backward and forward know where everything spawns on each map, and with the lightning gun to aim it at a point on a wall or item and strafe around trying to keep the lightning beam on the same spot the whole time for practice, and to always shoot infront of people with the rockets and not directly at them because they will run into it. Oh and Welcome to Quake

Yeah I was thinking the same thing when I played with her... reminds me of when I started on Deadzone and Widomaker when I was 12.

I learnt the shooting in front of people with rockets from playing against my sis on Quake 64. Im sure I'm not the only one but, I'm pretty good at predicting where people are going and just gibing them from kinda far off xD

lots of fishes in the sea though, pretty sure people have done that to me. Still, makes me feel uber. I always picture people facedesking on the other side of the net!

My name is Hostil3...chik in game. Cobalt picked that name for me. I started playing Quake online I guess almost 2 weeks ago now. My original in game name was Tuesday (That's my real name, heard all the jokes).

I was born in Dublin Ireland Republic on ... guess when? Tuesday April 25th 2000 xD My parents are lazy at name picking.

I have a older sister, she signed up on these forums with my name and let me pick the passwords (with my parents' permission) because the COPPA or whatever doesn't have return information on it >.> So mods, my parents said its ok for me to be here! xD

Anyway, me and my sis used to play Quake on the N64 and she "used" to kick my butt. She also used to play Quake on macintosh like.. years ago and I remember watching her play every now and then. She let me have her copy of the game but it wouldn't install on my new computer so I just had to drag the ID1 folder from the disk and download a port. Started with ProQuake but Cobalt helped me get Dark Places and others including Cobalt and Hypno (<3 u girl) helped me set up binds.

I play on Quake.Shmack.net though I really enjoy regular Quake DM too. I'm getting better but I still can't beat the claimed King Scoffer (Soffer?) or Hypno.


And yeah. You can all call me Tuesday in game if you want, I don't really care. Everyone else calls me Tue-Tue >.>
