Which Monster Would You Have Wanted?

Which monster do you wish had made it into the final version of Quake, the epic dragon or the more dubiously named vomitus?

My votes for the vomitus, Dissolution of Eternity gives us a nice dragon, and there are dragon mods, but Im really curious just what the hell id had in mind for the vomitus.

For some reason I don't think I would have wanted a dragon in Quake. In custom maps, you see it occasionally and that's fine. But then Quake would have had sort of an rpg feel and it wouldn't have been so unique.

I agree, that and also... dragons are very much epic and bombastic, it would always be at the least a mini-boss. Theyre very traditional, and yes, rpgish. Even though Quake was once supposed to be an rpg, it doesnt jive as a natural part of the dissonance that is the Quakeverse

Sajt should start a poll on what monster would have ruined Quake the most if added. (Orcs? Ninja Zombies? heh) I can tell you the choice of monsters in Quake is very good for the theme and not being like any other game.

One day I randomly posted my concept for a vomitus in #darkplaces
It was nice and disgusting, made me wish I could model and code so as to make it.

I think ninja knights could be kinda cool, not necessarily ninja... just knights that will "block" a decent amount of shots with their sword, and instead of just going straight for you, do side swipes with the sword staying out of your vision, and can leap high into the air and come back down with a nice overhead slash doing massive damage. Weak but fast and rapid in attack.

It does if you turn off frame interpolation and skins ; )

Nah they dont do disproportionate damage, and their weak so itd be rapid gameplay, like a quick dm battle only one has a sword.

One that could kill you instantly if you fell in it's trap

one that would cling onto you, slowly decreasing health till you die.

Half Life2 was one of SciFi's better films, though it doesnt look to be on par with their upcoming Mammoth.

I voted for the vomitus, even though I have no clue what it is. It is more unique than just a dragon. And like Baker said, many custom single player mods and dissolution of eternity has dragons in them.

Vomitus is like the name Sparticus. It's vomit and you just add "us" at the end.

The vomitus has been put into Quoth, but so far, no map uses it.
