Darkplaces performance on AMD cards?

One thing that I've always noticed is that I always seem to have drastically better performance in darkplaces with a Nvidia video card especially with pretty water. What surprises me is that I never seem to see anyone else mention this. Are there any tricks that I don't know about?

Here are some benchmarks that I did a while back with a couple of 6950s and a GTX570. I'm seeing pretty much the same with a 7950.

Look at the Crossfire results of two 5770's

I plan on going dual GPU next upgrade as well, I just can't emphasize on how 'snappy' it makes video games over all.

Its not a crossfire issue. I've compared GTX 280 and 4870 and the difference was night and day with Darkplaces.

With a 6950 when running through E4M1 when recording a benchmark with fraps I saw an average framerate of 87fps and a minimum of 33fps. On the other hand with a GTX 570 on the same system I saw an average of 159fps and a minimum of 61fps. That 570 seems to do a better job than my 7950 with this game.

It is possible that my Darkplaces install is a little out of date but not that out of date. So, I'm not sure how much of a difference that it'll actually make.

Pretty water is what seems to make the biggest difference with the AMD cards. It butchers framerates. Its not that bad of a hit on the Nvidia cards though.

My next pc will be custom and cost about 3-4k. In talks with a computer shop now to build it since i have no time to. I'll get specifics later once i get all the works together.
reason for my update is, i cannot run DP with more then 10fps, period. It sucks. Also newer games require newer hardware, and my pc is currently 2 years old.
