ha.. yea.. that's never a good thing, i do like the LG Eff + Direct Hits idea better than the general "efficiency" because shotgun, GL and nails are all spray weapons..
Regardless, someone with some clue about coding *COUGH COUGH* needs to step up and take this mod to the next level..
there are still some glaring holes, and thats why shmack is able to retain players throughout the day where as speaknow suffers highs and lows (mostly lows)
Shmack may be more newbie friendly then your speaknow crew, but atleast they are able to bring new and old players in on a consistent and daily basis.. with the variety of maps/runes it seems to have the best fan base right now..
I want to see both CTF and CA get back to that level, mainly CA cause people still play it.

Hey!
Rome wasn't built in a day.
This is going to be one wild year for Quake. You will see.

Obviously there are a few of us here, and I guess we shouldn't be the government for the population of quake.. but I think for the good of quake we've come up with some great ideas to help retain players, and bring new players in..
if nothing is going to be done, this is just another wasted thread.
80% of the ideas are already available, 15% ideas are added routinely, 4% ideas get put on the gamplay shelf, and 1% just suck...
16 people play this game on an average. Revamping the mod for 2% player "projective gain" is a sacrafice. Mod changes make there way to me via email/pm not forum posts next you will want overhead maps...

For the rest regarding GL spam and such, I'm not rushing Bam about this since he is working on some other stuff
Its best to test in small doses then beta to the public, it tends to turn people away from prototype ideas. I've tried to get you in on a few of the changes but you're never around!
Anyway if you want a CAX server with map rotation check bomber.quakeone.com out. Also Bamhad some spam reduction features on Bomber but it's still being revamed along with some other neat stuff
I know just enough coding to be dangerous or else I would have worked on these features myself!
Like Baker said, 2008 is looking like a good year for Quake! and we're not even out of the first month
I can understand you wanting to see all these cool things everyone is talking about, I'm seeing it as a decent sized non-profit group working towards Quake's future and dealing with this delicate process takes precision and patience.
But ya, you're smart wheres all these damn cool features already!
I remember someone saying I'd be hearing jeopardy music months ago! *cough*R00k*cough*

I get so f'd up in a game if I've been red for a hour and then end up on the blue team next game.
I actually sometimes say to myself out loud "I'm blue, shoot red people", "I'm blue, shoot red people". At the beginning of maybe the first 3 rounds.

I just googled for one
Upper left is boxes area, below that is Red Armour area , and you can get the jist from there. It would almost nearly make team_say obsolete , and if you make it a toggable option or purely optional for those who want the feature, and for those who dont have it but want to try it,they toggle it on,and it gives them a link because they dont have the image.
Also,it appears that someone has already coded such a feature, which should make it 10x easier to implement ;o

No intermission auto map-change at end of game! (When automatic map rotation is on, of course).
Rook did a kick-ass job with the changes to support Dredd's automatic map rotation, but I'm so impatient that I have to say I'd prefer not seeing the intermission and instead see
"Map change in 5 seconds"
"4"
"3"
"2"
"1"

Think of anti-wallhack. An observer isn't going to be receiving player positions.
Unless Rook modified the server exe to allow it for observers, which means that CAx would have to be reprogrammed to tell the server who is an observer. And, of course, the client would need to have this mode available. A lot of work! Is Rook working on this or is this just for idea box?

great idea, but it would have to be toggled, or else on smaller maps it might be distracting.
I like this idea though, reminds me of Day of Defeat type of map
