NOOOO!
I'm still getting the original texture!!!!!
It looks like I may well have to reinstall Quake in a more logical manner!
(strangely, now I DO get the texture more after doing that- but it's only strong in low-light conditions- in brighter light the original texture shows- I'm guessing the two textures respond differently to shadow).
If it helps- I also have a PAK2 file (I think it was for some other modification a while back) which may be causing it.
EDIT- Actually I'll do a bit of tinkering first- I don't want to be bogging the topic down with my screwy installation options- I've realized that I am in fact missing my DPMOD folder and apparently shouldn't be. :/

@Christopher Murphy
You can download the latest enforcer skin from this link http://quakeone.com/reforged/enfocer.html
@King Hazza
No problem, just tell us which engine you're using. Remember, folders have precedence over pk3s as well as names starting with x,y,w,z have precedence over a,b,c,d...
You cited a DPMOD folder so I guess you have Darkplaces: our content should go in a directory with a structure similar to this one
"j:\darkplaces\ID\progs\"
whatever you put inside ID is available for all the other mods as well, except in the case they have something with the same name.
If you see our skin partially, maybe it's because you already have a previous colormap that is loaded with our gloss, luma and normal.
If you provide us with more information we could help you avoiding to reset your installation, even if we suggest to update to the lastest build of DP.
You may also want to try Qrack, where it's easier to isolate the problem, having only a single file to track down (colormap).

Fascinating Nergal- and I must say thankyou very much for helping me with this!
I think you may have answered my question- I never actually installed a Darkplaces folder- I simply extracted the contents over the ordinary folders (ID1 etc)- which means the override DP/ID1 folder isn't there and the only ID1 folder overrides itself!
I'll try to hoodwink the program by creating an empty DP/ID1/progs folder in my Quake directory and see if it works!
EDIT- nope. Time for more drastic measures! >
Generally, the full description is that under the direct Quake/ID1 folder, the new textures were overlapped UNDERNEATH the original Enforcer skins. In high-light conditions, the new texture is BARELY visible (the shine effect SEEMS to permeate through- although it might just be the shine effect of the under-texture itself)- in low-light conditions the under-texture is very clear (albiet dark, obviously), with only slight traces of the original texture over the top- very opaque.
However, in my improvised Quake/darkplaces/ID1/progs folder they're simply not there at all....
Anyway, Cheers for the help!

Oops, sorry. I misunderstood. When is the next download going to be released? Oh & by the way, very, very, very good job. 999,999,999/5! That Enforcer skin looks very detailed! Thanks!

Ok- I'll create a texture thread in tech/help- but so far it definitely works in Quake/ID1- (extracted files in progs)- the 3d bumpmap and everything are there and working nicely- it's only a matter that the original texture file not being overwritten on my setup.

stoked noob
basically ive been perusing this site for a couple days now, and had no idea that there were alternative engines, or anything. i figured that there was a fan base still for this epic game, but did not know it was like this. i played this game when it first came out, me and a buddy both payed half and had it installed on our own comps.. and i remember having to share the cd so we could play the game with the soundtrack... things have changed quite a bit i must say. anyway i am now playing w/ darkplaces engine, romirtlights and pretty water... i downloaded the new enforcer skin... and it is awesome. ive been looking around the site and no offense to anybody else.. but your stuff is looking like it takes the cake. easily the best ive seen. however i have a question... i downloaded and played w/ rygel's "high" texturepack... and i gotta say that guy did a great job. it is obvious the man put alot of love and time into those textures. however.. it changes the feel of quake pretty dramatically. i was wondering what textures you were using in the screen shots of the enforcer... i was thinking that they might be rygel's... but not sure.. cause the shots that you have posted look like copies of original quake textures... just updated. and that would be fantastic if that was the case. anyway awesome work... cant wait to get a good look at the ogre.
cheers

SECONDED!
It's awesome!
(when are you guys going to release the other textures?
The two knights, scrag and ogre look pretty complete to me- if you get my drift...
Besides, even if they're not- it's better to release the ones you got now- that way it would be easier to point out any REALLY noticeable problems (or overlook any mild ones you might have thought needed improvement but not really)....
PS- solved the problem- tgas work fine!

By the way- on a side note, for your website, every time you release a new skin you should replace the old Bestiary monsters with their reskinned version (and maybe a different caption for the visually-impaired).
Ok, I'm ready for the next beastie you throw at me!
