Improvements for QuakeOne.com

Because the Christmas holidays are coming up I'll have a little bit of freetime in which I'd like to work on improvements for the QuakeOne website. I know that this has been asked before but I'd like to get another fresh perspective on everyones' thoughts.
  • What would you like to see added to the website?
  • What would you like to see improved?

Please post any thoughts you have at all. We like to hear the suggestions from everyone no matter what the idea is.

When I read forum messages, I usually just press NEW POSTS, then continue reading. After I read a message, I'll have to press backspace, backspace etc to get back to the new posts button to view the list again. It's more cumbersome after writing a message as u have to go thru the message submit prompts also.

basically could there be a quick button that just takes me straight to the NEWPOSTS output page to view new message headers again...?

I can also add the new forum posts link right below the bar above the forums where it gives you a breadcrumb trail of where you are on the forums. Basically just like it is on the forum index page. But as Spirit said, the new forum posts link is also in the User Menu.

Fix a few of the links here and there. One that I remember right away is that the CTF page is no longer up: http://www.quakeone.com/ctf

It's linked in the SERVERS page.

also, could you add links to the Rocket Arena mod and the 3wave mod? Thanks

It only takes url links to make C*S happy

edit:

OOO OOOO! O.O

Add QuakeWorld servers in the Servers page or store them somewhere

I think would be a good idea for the site is for any server with 2 or more players to show in the front page server browser block. This would make it so it is easier to find a game if a less popular or sporadically populated server gets activity. It would also be less of a fight to decide what servers to list on the home page because any server with a game would be automatically covered.

It would also be nice if people not logged in could see the Arcade high scores page instead of getting the "your member group isn't authorized for this page message".

Yeah there needs to be a CTF page. There isn't one -- and has never been one -- but we planned on setting up one.

The only *good* Rocket Arena is Slot Zero's, which doesn't have a web page, and ThreeWave's source code really sucks from a server operator perspective.

I think one idea is to have a link on the full servers page at the bottom stating where to find Quakeworld servers info. Most Quakeworld clients have built-in server browsers anyway.

also, could you add links to the Rocket Arena mod and the 3wave mod? Thanks
If you mean in the links bar to the left, that's a difficult thing to do. Those links are primarily meant to link to a decent source for the progs.dat [and hopefully source code] for a server operator. There isn't a site meeting those criteria very well -- Slot Zero has the only decent rocket arena, which has no separate home page -- and the standard ThreeWave CTF source code is full of holes/exploits.

Sorry, I thought it was a broken link that was supposed to lead to http://www.quakeone.com/ctfre/.

whether the mods are broken or not, it's still fun tinkering with the source
