"new" DOOM

Any of you guys played the new DOOM (may 2016)? It's on sale on steam for $29.99. I never played the "old" DOOM. Quake was my intro into fps. Just wondering if it's fun. Is the multiplayer side populated? 50% off sales are usually worth the $$. Any thoughts?

Doom

The modern release of DOOM is a fairly well balanced and pleasant experience in my own personal opinion. There has been a lot of negative feedback on certain aspects of overall style and game play. The gaming community is always hard on a modern age and re-imagined release of an all time classic title such as DOOM. If you enjoyed the franchise overall I would say you would welcome this title as well. It was fairly fast paced and the combat at times depending on difficulty was outstandingly vicious and nonstop. It has pretty decent multiplayer experience that almost takes you back to the old rocket arena days only slightly updated with classes and more modern items to aid you in your multiplayer matches. DOOM was always a straight forward title with one objective and that is to fight like hell all the way until the credits which they accomplished in this classic title reinvented for a modern era.

I haven't played it yet (need to upgrade my rig first) but I've read about it extensively and what I've gathered from the community is that the solo is great but the multiplayer is some kind of CoD/Halo crap (MP was outsourced to a studio that worked on both franchises). Doom was never big on MP anyway, it's mainly a solo experience.

The Mad Butcher should write the copy on the back of games or something. Then again, maybe that's exactly what he does.

30 bucks ain't bad. The multiplayer isn't terrific, but single player is a blast. It's a bit more action oriented than Doom 3 was. It still isn't anything like Doom 1 or 2 though. Single player alone makes Doom 2016 worth 30 bucks. But then again, you could probably hold off until Spring 2017 and probably pay 19.99.

I know I'm super late to the party replying to this thread, but the single player in the new Doom game is worth that price alone. It's a ton of fun!

I did buy it in may... 7/10 game, good game, better "doom" than doom 3 (imo), gameplay is quite repetitive and something boring... some hell scenarios are really good

snap map is easy to use, but is not so good tool.
