Armagon for me.
Takes Quake 1 to new heights, and really puts every other title to shame.

Followed closely by equal Quake1 and Q3A/TA/QuakeLive

Quake 2 just behind (gameplay wise it's pretty simplistic but for me to replay an old, old game where everything is just a bunch of smudgy blocks and yet it's STILL so immersive I can feel the greasy smoggy air on my skin, definitely deserves some credit. Its expansions are rather light on new stuff- especially monsters- so they're equal close runners up.

Dissolusion of Eternity for Q1 had some nice aesthetics for its time, but it really doesn't weigh up that well IMO. No actually new weapons, no actually new monsters (save the bosses), and the traps were seriously overdone. Although it did have some great moments (especially the statues).

Quake 4, however, was plain awful. I lost interest by the time I got to the sewers. When I watch that Indianan Jones episode of Southpark, I think about Quake 2. Reversing Quake 2's awesomeness by managing to make high-detailed environments and engines actually lame-down a bunch of smudgy technicoloured block monsters is something I believed wasn't possible. The monsters also shout 'Aboongy'- that alone warrants some kind of punishment.

Quake may well be as classic as a 1960's Aston Martin but I voted Scourge of Armagon because I felt that it derserves a place on the mantle piece along with Quake and i'm abit disapointed it hasnt gotton more votes, although not surprised

Mine would be tied with Q1 and Q2, so the Q2 vote is mine although I'm a fan of both.

I liked the mission packs but not as much as the original.

Origional Quake of coruse. Quake 3 sucks with it's sluggish, swimmy feeling gameplay. Shafting in Q3 is like trying to whap someone with a 100ft rubber bar. Quake 2 is cool but simply not as good as Quale 1.
