I think it is good when someone takes up engine coding and Quake modding in general, but considering that Kimp uses his power for "evil" and the joke is always on "you" ...

Let me ask you this ...

If you are playing on chi.crmod.tk, do you think anti-wallhack is on for Kimp?

My point is, someone with a history of botting, sabotaging servers and such is going to misuse engine coding too. This guy likes to laugh at you.

I'm personally kind of neutral on Kimp in the sense that in a strange way he has been helpful to Quake, but at the same time this is the same person who bots, sabotages the HDz server (if it were worth the effort Avalanche could file charges, that violates federal and state law and Kimp could be prosecuted for it), impersonates other players.

But Kimp is largely helpful to Quake in the same way that the bearded lady is helpful to P. T. Barnum ...

Make no mistake, while he is a source of entertainment, at the same time he is playing some of you for fools.

I think kimp is doing everything possible to get the best advantage in quake. wall hack, creating any sort of cheat he can think of. He seems like he will do whatever he can to play and win. He is Evil, kinda like Hitler...

He just wants to play DM and as long as he can get his DM fix and players to play DM, he's ok.
He does go AFK during DM games, but thats about it as far as anything DM is concerned with him.
Its kind of like a medicinal prescription to him in my view.

He ruined a CTF 3v3 we had a few nights ago.. I called it pre-match, and we still went on to play, it was a waste of 20 min.

Please do not help kimp in any way, shape, or form. Give him an inch and he'll take a kilometer. You'd expect him to at least take a mile, but he may somehow twist whatever you give him into something that works for his benefit. If you think otherwise, remember we're dealing with Kimp here.

He has yet to even acknowledge any wrong doings, and has he ever apologized to anyone?

Baker, I don't have a lot of time to quake. I jump in and want to play a few games, then have to get back to work. When I jump in only to have my 25-50 minutes of games ruined by Kimp, it gets pretty frustrating. I don't see you on the servers we play at while Kimp is on, but if he kept ruining your games, I think you'd have less of a soft spot for him with those last two lines you said..

Fortunately the DM servers are kimp-free now, but the CTF servers are not, and without vote-admin, there isn't much we can do.

I don't like DM3, CTF or team deathmatch or the spam that RuneQuake has turned into.

I like FFA deathmatch, CA on custom maps and Rocket Arena. I also like classic Rune Quake without free hook or the newbie runes or gas grenade spam.

So I'm like a hardcore Quake player without a server.

Needless to say, I hope that in the future the kind of stuff I like to play makes a comeback and I'm patient enough to believe it will happen eventually.

That doesn't mean I don't understand the aggravation of the Kimp problem, I've been the recipient of a few fucked up games that could have been great by a non-Kimp perpetrator.

I like FFA deathmatch too, its great for new players and what most of us started out with.

CTF is the most action oriented game.. I've played all the mods and none of them are up to par with CTF.. when I play a ctf match my eyes tear cause I can't blink from the constant action..

you should give it a try.. it's the most intense of all the mods.. especially when it comes down to the wire for a last cap.. many games we've played have been won by last second cap with the flag runner being chased by 2-3-4 people trying to retrieve it.. we've had times where they were about to cap and a person spawned in their base in the last second and stole the flag for the win.. it's epic!

some of the 'guarding' you speak of really doesn't happen all that often, you won't find yourself in the base alone without any action.. and as soon as your flag is gone you're forced to go and get it.. there is always someone trying to get the flag.. and its the most 'purposeful' of all the mods
