New Quake Pre-Release Pack

Ok, I'm opening a new thread cause nobody would see my post in the old one.

I'm releasing a new pack containing the Pre-Release maps, the progs.dat and sprogs.dat. So now you'll be able to play all maps, just like you do with the normal maps, using a modern NetQuake or QuakeWorkd client. I also did a bug fix and workaround in the map end, so we can finally kill that shub bastard!

UPDATE - 18/11/2013


New version released!

It's working better with Darkplaces and QRack. Just put the folder "pre" inside Quake's main folder and add a "-game pre" to your command line (it also works with "+gamedir pre" for QuakeWorld clients).

No more need to type weird map names. You can start the game using the main menu!

oh nice. have to try it

ive searched for quyake pre-release a few times but all the stuff i found was either just the original pre-release, or maps which didnt include the monsters and such


EDIT: erm it doesnt work correctly, when you pick an episode in the st4rt map it loads op the normal maps instead of the E1W1 E1W2 maps and such. and also on finishing a map you go to the original id-maps instead of the E1W2 type named maps.
had to manually type E1W1 to go to the pre-release map

Bug fixed and pack re-uploaded!

I forgot (= never knew) that nexmap's names were hardcoded in the trigger changelevel. So I added some code to dodge the problem. I also added some demos to game intro.

The only issue left, is that if you use the client menu to start a new game, it always sends you to the original start map. And I don't know if I can change that, cause that's the default behavior of the client. So for now you'll have to type the command map st4rt in the game console, to start the correct map.

Never touched those variables, try the last Qrack, it was working flawlessly @ home! But I'll make more tests later anyway.

I was checking the source code from fitzquake and found this statement at menu.c: "Cbuf_AddText ("map start\n"). So I don't think I'll be able to change the normal behavior of the new game's menu, without using a custom client.
