This was released on the 10th Anniversary of Quake on July 22, 2006 by the SDA. Watch for the kill during intermission on E1M2! This is the fastest that the E1 levels have ever been done with no regard for things you shouldn't be able to do, like shooting an ogre with the nail gun AFTER you exited the level from the intermission camera!

Another helpful tutorial has been posted on the Inside 3D Forums, and this one is all gooey, or GUI if you will. The new tutorial offers tips and advice on making your own CSQC based GUI menus and comes from avirox who has had plenty of experience in this area. Here’s a bit more detail from Inside 3D:
avirox or xavior, depending on where you see him, has posted a very nice two part tutorial in the forums on how to do your own CSQC based GUI menus. GUI menus you say? That's right, no more awkwardly formatted centerprint menus, avirox has paved the way to sleek presentation for your very own mod! Though he follows CSQC optimized for FTE (as he did it himself for a QuakeWorld project), it is assured that it should work with only a little alteration in DarkPlaces as well.
The tutorial handles events such as submenus, floating description panels, logos and the historic Chalcedonian positions on CSQC. Go give it a read here and leave a comment while you're at it!

Dredd is Back! |

For those of you that were around when it started and loved it, the server dredd.quakeone.com is back! No, it did not exactly leave, but was changed back to normal CAx for awhile, blame it on technical difficulties.
The server runs completely custom made maps, no ID1 levels.
The automatic map rotation is back! Also, be on the look out for an "olympic finish" at the end of each game, a 3 player podium placing the winners in order!
Also in the near future, we hope to see a "player aware" map rotation, sending you guys to the map that best fits the amount of players currently on the server.
So strap up your boots, load up your guns, and get on over to dredd.quakeone.com for some SERIOUS CAX action!

More Kicks in Quake Soccer! |

There’s already an update to the Quake Soccer mod I told you about yesterday, and Orion has been quite busy with his little gem. A new patch is now available in this Inside 3D forum thread, as well as the original download, and some kool kicks have been added.
- Goalkeeper Bot - A bot who autospawns in front of the goal to defend it for his team
- Jumping has returned
- Speed boost is now a toggle
- Stamina trait has been added to balance out jumping
