  • Game Play Resolution Configs Help Needed...

I have some critics about my typing style when asking questions so I will try to make this brief....

1.) My new LED TV is set to its native 4K x 2k Resolution by Default in Nvidia Control Panel, and on Nvidia Geforce Experience the Optimal resolution for the BF3 game is recommended to play with that resolution as well and I get 4 fps if lucky... I have to bump it down to a lower resolution to 1920X1080 even make things playable, keep in mind these are all ingame settings none of them change the Nvidia control panel settings they are still at the 4K native (not sure if that has anything to do with anything or not)...But the 1920X1080 60hz setting I change in the options in the game, makes parts of the display hang off the edge and I can't see everything. It is irritating but playable, I get random occurring, extremely slow choppiness where I can literally count every frame passing by, and frames being dropped to the point where I can't see an enemy right in front of me until after I hit the ground... There is no bottleneck issue the cpu and gpu.. fps are 60 - 100+....

2.) 50? Class LED HU6950 Series TV UN50HU6950FXZA | TVs <- This is the TV I am talking about... My PC: OS Windows 8.1 x64... Graphic Card: MSI GFX 660 TI (its shit for overclocking)... CPU: AMD FX-8350... using one of those ridiculously expensive HDMI cords. Was curious about custom resolutions and afraid to attempt a 240hz or anything over 60hz because I don't understand much of this crap in the specs:

2.) The TV uses 60hz according the the sticker label on the back of it where the model# and all that other crap is that I needed to register it with.. but here are the specs on its 240hz bullcrap...

    HU6950 SMART UHD TV
    SPEC SHEET
    PICTURE QUALITY

    Ultra High Definition 4K (3840 x 2160)

    Clear Motion Rate 240

    UHD Upscaling

    UHD Dimming

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

I know this is a Quake forum, and would like to know how to adjust for both games properly... and how to achieve the 240hz at a lower or decent resolution for game play, or just a good config that is much better than the way I have it set up.. I have the auto motion plus set to standard, it can be turned off but I like the soap opera effect it has on tv and movies. http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.co...1222131254204/[ENG-US]NUATSCH-1.117.pdf <- This is the e-manual the link is available on the samsung site i posted as well.... Also saw this article that got me curious, it is kinda old but probably still relevant True 120Hz from PC to TV!!! (Successful Overclocking Of HDTV / Plasmas) - [H]ard|Forum .... If anyone would like to help me reach the proper resolution settings and configurations, let me know if you need more information, I was thinking about posting a screen capture video to help people who have trouble with the reading portion of my questions.... Thanks in advance for any help I receive on this!

Also was wondering if using the Display Port instead of HDMI would be better? I was thinking about upgrading my GFX in the near future, after I get a bigger tower, and replacement psu.. I have a mid-tower and non-modular 750w psu from 2004 that somehow still works.. The left over cords are just bunched up and moved to the side some, organizing that mess would have taken a team of professional ocd organizers that went off their meds, so I did the next best thing and tied the remaining herd of them together with an old shoe string and mushed them in a corner... 1 problem at a time tho..

Here is a video that I recorded, that may help explain what im dealing with a little better... I don't speak or post notes, I figured it would be more helpful if people just saw it... I recorded a ton of extra footage on this, but it only saved like 4 minutes, but I figure thats good enough. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vxg7gOKbHE0 watch in HD or you won't be able to make much of it out.

ew that was part of the video but not the game play part just me going very slow changing options... But maybe it was enough. Edit: The next video will show cpu and gpu stats and flow chart, along with fps and different resolutions and Hz values, it isn't long but its less boring has actual game play going on with more details to notice what happens at certain areas, I have played around with it, so I know how to make it push a ton of good sounding stuff sometimes up to 200 fps or close by.. The fps can be high at several resolutions if the Hz are set low in game, but the slow screen drag that happens when I'm facing off with an enemy, or just navigating around goes from small burst of being fast and playable with easy navigation, then after that burst it slugs on down to a crawl to stay, there is a really slow kinda blurry, and smooth frame chop going on that stays consistent like only slightly worse and no better, which makes it hard to play, I usually end up with a knife in my throat from someone I fire on at close range, and my frame lagged shots hit everything but him, so he just walks over slits my throat back with a knife in really really slow motion..This has to have some fix to it, You will have to excuse my lack of helpful I haven't overclocked anything in a while or i would have a several other read outs on screen displays that would probably help more, and I need to get some stuff to watch my hardware anyway even at stock value something could go wrong and I like to be ahead of the game the culprit... I will post a video of Quake 1, to see if anyone can help me figure out how to get everything set up for it, and set the graphic card config properly with the ingame stuff.. Speaking of posting videos, I got an email from twitch, just giving me a friendly notice that someone had hacked my account, and got my personal information.. but no big deal or need to reply because they have suspended my account because of it.. :/ I only used that account once and i couldn't even move while trying to live stream on the lowest settings. But yes quake 1 video will be next, since this is a quake1 forum I don't want to not include quake, The purpose for figuring all this out was for all games that I play which happen to only be quake 1 and battlefield 3 at the moment... I don't count facebook games those are the only ones I can justify cheating at.. I want to get hardline but I didn't try the beta and not sure if my gfx can handle it or not, everyone has said it will be well worth the buy tho.. :/

afaik hdmi cant do 4k. you need display port for that. i dont know I dont own a 4k... and only a handful of gpu's can do 4k gaming.

Not really trying to work it on a 4K resolution that was proven to be way too slow, I did have some minor success over hdmi with one of he lowest two 4K resolution using a reduced Hz... But if I can just keep the whole game on the screen and play at a HD res like 1080p or 720p, or even some SD resolutions well not so much those because the screen gets a washed out look and hard to see.. But I will check into a display port, I think my gfx may use a different version than my tv not sure if that matters much never used them... I want to kinda know if there are any custom resolutions that are manually set, where I could change the Hz, to something higher then 60 or 75, and be safe.. Need someone good at math and this stuff, i don't trust myself to just go slopping around in the manual area for that.

It is probably bunch more simple than I am making it out sound on here and to myself for the thing I am trying to do.. I just wish I knew how to force 1080p resolution to shrink itself and fit on my screen... What I was trying to do was find which settings I needed to use to make the Tv process the game in its 240Hz deal or something close by and make the game run faster, not have the gfx push 240Hz but whatever setting makes it get there... I tried the same with plasmas 600Hz claim, the result was slow as shit the low Hz it picked up, it was only useful for tv and videos... The best I could get out of the old plasma in games was 75hz on its native resolution... I am going to check around more and do some digging but if i can't get the anymore than 60Hz then I'll have to be ok with that, I like the resolution, and its the first tv that came with a microphone in the remote that I have ever had, it works like a tv/smartphone/all-in-one.. that is kinda cool kinda don't like the security risks, cause everything syncs and links..not related but twitch told me my account was hacked and info was taken, I used that account like once, what could they possibly want from my twitch account..
