  • TrenchBroom - editing brushes

    Hello. Long-time lurker, first-time poster.

Having played Quake on and off forever, I'm finally attempting to make my first map. I'm using TrenchBroom which is a very user-friendly tool.

BUT .. I can't figure out how to change the depth of a brush. I want to make a button that slightly sticks out from a wall. However, the standard brush dimensions are quite large so the button sticks out a long way.

I think the depth of the button is 16. Can it be changed? Or is there another technique to make 'slim' brushes? Any advice gratefully received!

Sadly I don't know how to fix that, but do you have a download link for this program? Tried to find one and couldn't. Thanks!

    Oh also, welcome to quakeone.com!

You're better off asking on func_msgboard -> Func_Msgboard: Latest News
      Try the mapping help section.

Thank you. I've always found the func_msgboard format a bit off-putting but will give it a go!

if you have snap to grid on, you want to change your grid size and then you'll get the size you want. If it's still not quite there, you can turn off snap to grid and you can change ti to what you want.

Thanks, this is indeed the way to go! Now I know how to change the grid size, my maps shouldn't look like Minecraft

Glad to hear that you got it working. Do you by any chance need testers for your map. Because if you do, I'd love to be one!

Thanks very much! I'll remember that when I eventually get something playable. At the moment it's only one room

Likewise, if you need any help testing it, I can help as well. =)

Thanks very much. I suspect it's a couple of months away from being ready.
