  • mdl model viewer (QME not 64bit compatible)

Can anyone recommend a decent .mdl viewer. It doesn't necessarily have to be an editor - just something to view the frames and skin.

I tried QME, but it doesn't install in 64bit windows. Does anyone have an extracted version to test out, or a version compiled for 64bit?

    Thanks for the responses.

    Hey!

I had the exact same problem a while ago, I had to install them on my old retro machine first then zip 'em up.

    Quakeme23.zip

    Qme31.zip

They're old and a bit quirky plus one might have limitations, can't remember which, but they should help you out.

At least till you can source something better.

I usually just import mdls into Blender now and copy out the time line.

noesis can load/export various models, including mdl. not sure about viewing skins directly, but exporting as md2 should presumably include a texture too.
there's a plugin for blender that can export and I would assume import mdls (taniwha's, but I've not used it and don't know any actual name to google for).
or there's fte's modelviewer (double click your file and associate it with some recentish fteqw binary). doesn't currently display skin textures except wrapped around the model itself, but yeah, there's a feature idea...

Thanks adam Babe. That was sensational. Cheers Spike, I've just downloaded noesis and will take a look after some early sleep.
