  • 13 Acres of Hell - Custom DM Map Server

Note: Can I get this added to the quake server list?

Alright then! After much struggle, I finally have my custom deathmatch server up and running!

    Name: 13 Acres of Hell
    Address: acres.pwnz.org:26000

Information: 13 Acres of Hell Info

The idea behind this server is to showcase 13 custom deathmatch maps in map rotation. So many awesome DM maps have been made over the past many years, I'd like to rekindle a little love for them and get some good ole' fragging in at the same time.

The server is running RuneQuake but setup by default to run in a pure/classic DM mode (deathmatch 1). This mode has disabled runes and all other special RuneQuake features (spawn protect, random armors, runes, hook, etc.).

    Current Map Set:
A Few of My Favorite Things (4.25 mb)

    utressor
    lundm1
    auhdm2
    baldm6
    efdm8
    bovine
    oma
    gomdm2v2
    rtz
    xl1dm6
    uzul
    aggressr
    rf

Let me know if you have any issues, problems, questions, or whatevers about the server. Thanks!

    Hi Mezz
Congratulations on the new server. Just in case it may be of use to you...:
    1. The ping from England was 135-155.
    2. The server map changing appears to take an extremely long time,
    3. and now appears to have given up completely whilst attempting to change level to efdm8.
    4. it eventually just disconnected me.
    5. Some maps (rtz?) don't seem to be in the normal automatic map download repo's.

    Hope this helps

    Monty

ugh ... high ping from England. How do you ping to other US servers?

I haven't noticed the map changing to take a long time? I'll see if something is buggered with the level switching. Is the server down now then? That would be bad!

Who do I need to talk to about getting the maps on the repo's?

Re: Other servers - Usually about 90 to the new york or Atlanta servers, 120-130ish to Shmack.

Re: map repo - for the one here at QuakeOne.com I would imagine Solecord might be able to check that for you. For the ones on Bigfoot, Damage and Newyork either Polarite or if it's after next weekend (due to pressure of work ) and if my access still works I might be able to help with some of that

        Kind regards

Ideally it would be good to make sure all the maps I have listed in the prominence archives (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing) get onto the various repositories. Maybe I can start a thread to coordinate that?

EDIT: Also when the server went down my whole lost it's internet access. I swapped out the router too because I suspect one was flaky (frequently lost internet and needed to be reset).

Any chance of getting the server added to the server list?

Where is the server located, and what connection type are you running the server off?

Server is located in SE Michigan (Detroit area). It's a home cable connection. 75mbs down, 25mbs up. Has been fairly stable with 3-4 people in it. Haven' had more than that yet.
