  • mp2 music issues

alright so ive tried everything i can think of for this, i have never had this happen.

so, in my q1 folder i have :

    id1/music -quake soundtrack plays fine
hipnotic/music - SoA soundtrack plays fine
rogue/music - DoE soundtrack doesn't play, instead it plays the music in id1!

i tried to remove the music folder from id1 to see if it would force the music is rogue. did nothing. then i tried to put the rogue music in id1 to see if it would play when i booted rogue, and still, nothing.

i also tried to move the music in rogue to "rogue/sound/cdtracks" but that failed also. then i tried to pack the music in a pk3, then dropped it in the rogue folder. still, nothing. im stumped!

(for the record, the music i have for DoE is the right soundtrack. i played it just to make sure i hadn't dropped the q1 soundtrack into rogue be accident.)

((using the latest DP build btw))

    darkplaces uses ogg for music.

so convert your mp2's to ogg

    .

if you need a converter > Format Factory
best universal converter for images, music and video

are you curious about what all there is out there in terms of HD content for quake?
    > then make sure to check out my 'definitive' HD replacement content thread! <

I was wonderin... lol. Maybe start it with the gamefix switch

            commandline or in a bat

            darkplaces.exe -basegame rogue -game rogue

summin like that, I forget if it's plus or minus... I could open up my dark arts project when I get home and refresh on all the base switches.

waaaaait are you running dp with -nohome? If not all your quake stuff gets redirected to c://users/username/games or something like that. Your "C:Quake" folder isn't doing shit.

No nothing like that. Everything is in the right place. I'll try to set rogue as the base game when i have a chance.

so, you are saying you are running the latest dp without -nohome and there is not a copy in your c://..../games folder? That is impossible unless you don't have a games folder.

copy and paste this in a text document and save it as whatever.bat in the same folder as the darkplaces that you think you are using.

                  darkplaces.exe -nohome -game rogue

I'll try that "no home" switch when i get a chance, and report back with the result.

                    Edit: tried out, no luck.

hmmm, I'm actually at work and it may be super slow but, I feel like I should find something to do. I'll think about this more and report my ideas after I've found a bunch of stuff to do and completed it.

so as a last resort i visited the darkplaces readme. i went to the audio feature portion and read:

i noticed that the track was named "track002". the music in my rogue folder was "track02".

so i just added an extra zero to each track name, and it works fine. i didnt catch it because im a tad bit dyslexic. thanks for all the help gypsy, but it all came down to a simple "0". hah!

ah yes, darkplaces uses to 002 003 004 naming convention instead of 02 03 04

funnily enough i just had the opposite problem confusing me
when i tried using music with quakespasm engine, which DOES use 02 03 04
                          .
