I would've been playing it this weekend but it happened to come at a time where I was out of town. So, no Doom for me, unfortunately.

      How're you liking it Mind?

        ITS FN FANTASTIC
I was planning on buying SFV as my next game due to other Quakers having that, but now it looks like its going to be 2 games I really want.

I've played Team Death Match and Warpath, Warpath plays like Battlefield Conquest mode where you control bases, or Unreal Tournament Domination. At some points in the game, I am thinking its all timer based, a type of Rune for a bad ass demon spawns who has 4 rocketlaunchers or some shit, essentially it can mow down enemies on an extreme level, if you die before its powerup time limit runs up it drops and its can be picked up by either team. There is only one map and it blows in my opinion, but I'm guessing its one of the mediocre ones and all the fluff is elsewhere.

But for a multiplayer game thats brand new and I yearn for Q1 raw team multiplayer, classic strong arena shooter, Doom looks to be exactly that. The lightning gun is a blast, all weapons have alt fires on mouse2 that do something.

It's still active, O how I will play this until Beta ends.

I really hope there is another open beta before release because I really want to try it out. I'm kicking myself for not being around for this!

I just realized that they are charging $40 for a season pass for this. Yikes!

I had to use the lowest resolution just to run this lol, I enjoyed it otherwise and it had some great gameplay elements. The two levels provided were designed well and were fun to play and replay.

I wanna say it was amazing, but it was honestly underwhelming. But, I think with a few fixes, removing some of the statistics, and the mods, and tweaking the speed this could be a lot better. It is, after all, just a beta.

                YOU'RE GONNA CARRY THAT WEIGHT...

Damn, I was too busy at the weekend and missed it. But I preordered the game already anyways. Didn't spend that much money on a game in a long time, I usually buy 'em cheap when they are some months old and on sale. Let's hope they don't fuck it up...

God WTF is wrong with those fake Q3 fanboys on Steam?
"This and that should be like Quake 3, cause Doom is advertised as an arena shooter"
                    *facepalm*

IMO, Doom has always been more like a... maze-shooter. Same for Quake 1.
That fact that its a maze kinda makes it seem like an arena, since you can go anywhere (almost, with a few obstacles, like locked doors and keycards). Then again, they're complaining about MP.

Would it be an improvement if the following changes were added?
                    -Removed Loadout
                    -Removed advanced customization(not the armor)
                    -Increased speed by 15%-25%
                    -Removed multiplayer lobby

There is a crowd of long-time Q3 players who are desperately waiting for a new good FPS MP game. Q3A/QL is getting quite old, Q4 failed years ago, and nothing else has shown up (Reflex for the hardcore CPM guys maybe, but look at the player count: Reflex - Steam Charts). These people are hoping for Doom MP to become the great, new Q3A. I gotta say I can understand that, and a part of me also wants that.

I am not saying in any way that I want it to be a copy of Q3A, and that I support the idiots on steam forums (I never go there & don't know whats going on there, but I can imagine). But it does not surprise me that a lot of people compare Doom MP with Q3A. If Doom MP is worse than Q3A, people are gonna ignore it and stay at Q3A, even if the game is very old.

I did not try Doom yet. But loadouts and reduced movement speed are not gonna make hardcore Quake players happy, that's for sure (see loadout discussion for QL). They are for new players, to make the game more accessible. But if the rest of the game is OK and has a way to make mods, this is not gonna matter in any way. Someone's gonna make a mod which is gonna remove that, and everybody is happy. Some people always complain about everything on the internet, even if it's no big deal to change it. Just ignore them. And be open for something new. I already preordered Doom, because I hope for something new to replace Q3A MP.

If not, fine. But then I want at least a great SP experience.

I think it's pretty obvious that they are trying to attract the Doom fans on nostalgia alone, as the game sounds like it is just emulating what is in Halo and call of Duty. I get it, those games sell a ton and I'm sure the "higher ups" at the company are also pointing to these numbers and saying "Make this happen!" It's seems really tough trying to create a game today and make everyone happy.

I thought it looked and sounded fantastic, and was addictive to play. On the other hand I wished i could peel away all the hudclutter, bump up the player movement a tad, and (not that it mattered much in TDM) have less garish armor color/patterns. They look like transformers.

So, maybe they'll do some adjusting prior to release, maybe they wont. Multiplayer doom has never really been my bag though. I want to run through those maps blasting demons straight back into hell And I got a good feeling it's gona deliver on that

The onyy thing I looked for but couldn't find to save my life was efficient bunny hopping, as if it doesn't even exist.

That open beta was fabulous imo.
