Anyone here play it? I think it's pretty fun.

I don't think too many people do, but they definitely should. It seems like a natural evolution of Quake's multiplayer, making it more realistic but still keeping things in the realm of fiction (Sure did a better job than COD, but that's a whole other can of worms I don't care about). Gameplay is tight, and you die within three seconds of spawning, which is always good.
YOU'RE GONNA CARRY THAT WEIGHT...

Yeah, I usually have a death count three or four more than my kill count. It's fast paced, frantic, and on a populated server, an orgy of gunfire between people with rocket launchers, tau particle hyperaccelerators, gluon disruptors, and Glock 18s.
Wildly unbalanced earlybird gameplay and Jesus jumpin' fuckin' shitballs is it just a spoonful of adrenaline to make the work load go down.Last edited by particlebat; 07-01-2016, 04:03 PM.sigpic

HL1 is a bastard child.
Yeah I said it.
*Just kidding kind of*
Here's how it went down... id software(guy) and Valve(girl) were on their first date after 6 hours of chatting on the internet... They met up and Valve brought the alcohol which was spiked with enough GHB to put an elephant down.
after about 30 minutes of light partying id software almost instantly passed out and Valve took the opportunity to begin to rape id software down and dirtily stealing id software's seed then left the scene leaving id software unconscious on the living room floor.
Valve was pleased to know they had got prego from their atrocious attack on id software and in her belly brewed an evil seed known as HalfLife 1.
id software never recovered and was traumatized at this point and started making shitty ass games, the end.
HL1 was fun for singleplayer but it just didn't live up to Quake when it came to multiplayer (Not counting CS).Last edited by Phenom; 07-01-2016, 05:02 PM.

It'd be great if both Quake and HL had "hundreds" of players but yeah... life goes on.Last edited by Phenom; 07-01-2016, 05:11 PM.

Opposing Force was where it's at.

Also, Valve has a tendency to ditch their own creations. As a result, you need to mess with the fov for true widescreen with HL and it's mods. But to make it easy on everyone, make an autoexec.cfg in the valve folder with default_fov 106.270273206 for 1080p. You can do it from the launch options too.
I still play TFC to this day as well, that mod will never get old.

I thought for sure the DM servers for the original Half-Life were entirely abandoned years ago-- like back in 2013 when I checked the servers list in Qtracker and couldn't find any-- and ever since the original 'master server list' (or whatever system they used) went out.

Are you sure Qtracker looks for Steam client servers and not the old Sierra ones?sigpic
