I have no idea what that is, but it gives me mental images of Spock lol I'd have to research this computer technology to understand glad you're enjoying the game though
The gemstone of gaming is Quake, so load it up and play some

I switched from OpenGL to Vulkan in the Doom settings and Doom nolonger loaded...

Maybe it has something to do with Doom only getting 12 FPS with everything on low settings at the lowest resolution?

I think it's time to upgrade.

AMD benefits immensely from Vulkan =)

All my desktop computers here are intel based.
i.e. freebsd based on the intel architecture.

In the past iv tried Freebsd on amd chipsets, and it caused a lot of hiccups.
I prefer to let new software run its course before i plunge into something new.

One of my desktops are still running windows xp
I refuse to change my computer habits.

Not me, as soon as I picked up dx11 compliant gpu's I immediately dove head first into Windows 7.

Vulkan should alleviate any demand for upgrading to Windows 10. Microsoft is shooting themselves in the foot by locking DX12 into Windows 10.

Technology is kinda like Scratch n Sniff for me.

Does your AMD video card have to have Vulkan technology? (Only 4 the newest 1337 cards) or can olde/integrated cards benefit from this?

I've heard about Vulkan for some time but never did much digging up on it since I figured:
"I'm running a laptop from 2013, Vulkan would be as much use to me as coffee in a speed addiction convention".

But if I could squeeze another 10 FPS out of Doom without sacrificing e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g it'd be nicer... I bought the game to early and I was sort of forced to as I wasn't ready to upgrade my PC or get back into PC gaming much, but since my nerd bone started wiggling when I got a Optiplex desktop 745 which I can play with I'm interested in how far I can push the new PC.

This is from the Amd site:
                      Vulkan™-compatible components

AMD Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.3 and later support the following AMD APUs and Radeon™ GPUs1 based on the Graphics Core Next architecture on Windows® 7, Window® 8.1, Windows® 10, and Linux®:
                      AMD Radeon™ R9 Series graphics
                      AMD Radeon™ R7 Series graphics
                      AMD Radeon™ R5 240 graphics
AMD Radeon™ HD 8000 Series graphics for OEM systems (HD 8570 and up)
AMD Radeon™ HD 8000M Series graphics for notebooks
AMD Radeon™ HD 7000 Series graphics (HD 7730 and up
AMD Radeon™ HD 7000M Series graphics for notebooks (HD 7730M and up)
                      AMD A4/A6/A8/A10-7000 Series APUs
                      AMD A6/A8/A10 PRO-7000 Series APUs
                      AMD A6/A8/A10/FX™ 8000 Series APUs
                      AMD E1/A4/A10 Micro-6000 Series APUs
                      AMD E1/E2/A4/A6/A8-6000 Series APUs
                      AMD A4-1200, A4-1300 and A6-1400 Series APUs
                      AMD E1-2000, E2-3000, A4-5000, A6-5000, and A4 Pro-3000 Series APUs
Considering that it helps Nvidia cards too, as long your gfx hardware still has driver updates, it might get some support for it in the future. Maybe.
I haven't read into it that much and don't know if it needs to built in at the hardware side too.

I ended up buying Doom on the PS4 and I wonder ,in time, if Sony will add Vulkan API support to their machines.
There was talk about it a while back with the PS4 containing AMD hardware.

If your graphics solution utilizes GCN architecture you should be golden!

Would that make me eligible for Vulkan? If so how do I install it!?

I'm pretty sure the PS4 and Xbox One are already exploiting async compute, which is what Vulkan is tapping into.
