Anyone have any idea how to get rid of this? like a mod that will replaces the fire.
I had foot + fire + and nails but it doesn't work on the mission packs

    Hello Duke,

First of all, why dont you ask for an adjusted foot + fire + nails mod ?
If you do not ask, there will be no help.
I happen to know the author of that mod. He seems to be a nice guy and will surely help.

Back to your initial problem (shown in your screenshot):
If you enable realtime lightning the flame will by handled like any other model.
The flame itself is of course not producing light (like in the real world). Only light sources will produce lights in game. The mapper decided to place light sources all over the map to make it look good/real.

Light sources near torches or flames are placed many times not directly in the middle of the fire model. Instead it is moved a little to get the best visual. Be aware that mappers do not create their maps with realtime lighting in mind !

The result is exactly the issue that you described: flames will cast shadows.

To get rid of it you have multiple options:
1.) Adjust each "wrongly" positioned light source manually --> extreme amount of work.
2.) Write a qc mod and tell the engine to NOT cast shadows for the flame models. --> needs a mod for every mod
3.) Write point no 2.) directly into the engine code and give it a cvar to toggle it. --> would work for all mods/maps
4.) Add a shader to the flame models to NOT cast shadows --> would work for all mods/maps

As you see, point 3.) and 4.) are universal and are thereby best to choose.
I am no engine coder, so I cannot do point 3.). But I am a modder, so I can do point 4.) for you.

So, here is the fix for this issue that works in all maps and all mods.
It is made for Darkplaces but should also work for FTE (unfortunately I cannot use FTE anymore since build 5000. Spike knows why...).

A Quaketastic link is basically beyond permanent.

Even if the Quaketastic site were to die, the files can still be downloaded from archive.org (the well-funded and Amazon backed permanent archiving site).

                  Example: https://web.archive.org/web/*/quaketastic.com

                  Try it yourself and see.

That's not what I meant. I suggested Dropbox instead of the upload sites with an expiration date that Seven generally uses. Also, I didn't know Quaketastic links were permanent and I thought Dropbox would be safer in the long run, as Quake sites seem to have a tendency to shut down after a number of years.
