  • How do I use custom Wads and Texture paks in Darkplaces?

    I am trying to assemble the best of quakes graphics enhancements. I have almost everything downloaded and installed properly, However I have a collection of wads and textures for the models, that I dont know how to use.
    any help apreciated.

    Also, is there still a low poly limit even in the new engines such as dark places?
    If so, is this likely to be overcome? Is it being worked on?

    And if there is not, could I be directed to some high poly models/textures ala doom3?

    Im really looking for the best possible Quake eyecandy.

    and lastly does anyone know where I can get the weapon models seen here?

    I really like the grenade launcher. Its true to the original, but looks much better.

      actually I allready have rygel, and have it installed, I'm just an idiot. I was waiitng to have all of the upgrades in and everything in a final state before actually PLAYING, so I didnt see that.

      Wads are for mapping? I was trying to get that sweet looking knight and hellknight skin (and model?) and ended up with

      -knave.wad
      -medeival.wad
      -wizard.wad

      and a bunch of tga skins

      really the last things i have to do are upgrade the charactor and enemy models to the highest poly, and best skins i can. (which i need help with) and then maybe add a few choice tweaks with gyro (and twig?) which i dont know how to do (i think i have to recompile qc) and, check to see if i like that AI upgrade i downloaded, and if so, add that.
      anyways thanks for the quick reply

        Hondo Bondo's SPDM superduper quake duke nukem vs. the whole world is one of my favorite crazy mods, i think it only runs in aguirequake, darkplaces and superduperquakeengine.

                  ok, now that thats set, do you know how to get rid of the opengl framebuffer error where everything flickers until you alt tab out? (..please dont say alt tab out)

                  enabling v sync slowed downt he flicker to a blink. but its still there

                    BUT DONT PANIC!!

                      Unfortunately I can't help, I think it is an unsolved problem with DarkPlaces.

                      It is my understanding that this is a problem that cropped up some time in early 2007 DarkPlaces.

                      It might go away if you use a 2006 build of DarkPlaces:

                        Oh btw, I get 5fps too. My computer totally cant handle it.

                        I've just sort of been obsessed with graphically upgraded quake since Fuhquake came out, I lay low, and then every few years go on an eyecandy frenzy.

                        I'm going to see if I have any interested friends, and of course hold on to this 'til I gets me a new computer.
