Engine X 5.50 Beta
Download: Engine X 5.50 Beta - Windows (27 MB)
Download: Engine X 5.50 Beta - Mac Universal (27 MB)
This download includes the replacement content provided by Engine X. Mac Version being tweaked a little; should be released by morning and the dual source code at that time.

Things Engine X Needs:
1. Testing for feedback on the default settings and anything that feels wrong.
2. Does it work on your hardware?
3. If you do spot a bug, I definitely want to know.
I want to release a more fine-tuned version next week based on user-feedback. And I want to kill some menu items.
My first priority is to make sure Engine X feels right, that the settings are comfortable. I have made great efforts to try to keep the engine "simple" despite the rather large number of features and changes added.
Some fun things in Engine X:
freezeall: In single player, stops all entities except players.
tool_showspawns 1: will show spawn points (off line only, not if connected to server)
tool_showbboxes 1: shows bounding boxes of all entities
tool_texturepointer 1: provides texture info at any part of the map you point at
folder command: type "folder shots" to open screenshot folder; press F12 to make screenshot first
resizable windows
See the Engine X Prelease thread for more info. There are so many changes from the prior version I can't keep track.
Any feedback on usability is greatly appreciated, I have a series of releases of Engine X I want to get out, making sure each one is "right" and "polished" before moving to the next.

Displaying Mullsauce 3 times instead of once.

Easy to fix. Baker -1, I thought I tested every little thing but apparently I missed something. I had to some mild tweaking. Thanks for the info.
Hey if you could type "fastest" in the console, and then type "pq_maxfps 9999" in the console and type "timedemo demo1" in the console what FPS do you get? Maybe post a screenshot? [When you get time ... ]
I'm asking because you have an extremely fast graphics card and want to know versus DirectQ and ProQuake results you've posted in the past.
[Dumb question: why is your screenshot so ugly? Do have a gamma modifier/brightener or something?]

I play with high gamma/brightness for "seeing the opponent" assistance. hehe.
DirectX
OpenGL
Something not directly relating to the Engine X , but significant.... On your windows box install this : http://xwdock.aqua-soft.org/ , While Xwindows Dock is open, load Engine X 5.50 , load a map, then exit. Do you experience the same "nothings clickable anymore" , and the Opacity of the dock is also being affected.

I'll probably have to try the above on a different machine tomorrow night. My Windows machine is constantly out of hard drive space, mostly due to having a very large collection of engine source codes.
But I'll look into this. I'm assuming whatever you are saying here doesn't occur with Qrack or ProQuake or DirectQ, right?

Correct, I think I remember it happening occasionally with Qrack but its been so long since I've bothered tinkering with other engines that I can't say for sure. I know that it doesn't happen with directQ for sure.
I just tested the OpenGL side of Engine X 5.50 and it DOESNT suffer this issue, so somethings missing from the DirectX side of EngineX

I was going to ask that, but had thought I'd check that out myself. OpenGL and Direct3D do shut down slightly differently.
I don't know too much about your "Make your Windows look like OS X" application, hehe ... I'm using the real OS X
