  • Problem with Darkplaces keyboard layout.

    Hello fellow Quake fans !
I am having an issue with Darkplaces on Linux, which surprisingly doesn't happen on Windows.
Only some numbers of my keyboard actually allow me to switch weapons.
I don't have that issue with Yamagi Quake 2 though.
My keyboard is an azerty, so I would bet it is a layout issue.

Well, since no one else has answered, I will ask some dumb questions...

Have you tried rebinding keys within the game?

Like bind 7 to see what 7 does. Then:

    bind 7 "impulse 7"

...to make it select the rocket launcher.

Have you fiddled with Num Lock, if you're talking about num pad keys?

Have you tried switching to the U.S. English keyboard layout? (you can set a keyboard hotkey to toggle it).

If push comes to shove, maybe you could use xmodmap or xbindkeys to change the behavior of some keys at the system level.

      Yup, no success.

Nah I'm talking about the keys below the "f1(etc)".

That's pretty extreme, it is a shame no proper layout configuration is present in Darkplaces.

Well, I already stumbled upon that post before posting my issue, but in_builtinkeymap 0 doesn't longer seem to exist....
