As mentioned above, you can double your window width in windowed mode and actually double your fov, if you have two exact monitors. or same size atleast.

                  wouldnt this skew the width?

In windowed mode it just extends the window onto the other monitor, then you can position the window so your + is in the middle. it's kinda weird, but maybe you could even extend it onto 3 monitors

As soon as I can get my hands on 3 identical monitors, I want to fabricate a custom deskmount for 3 monitors. I would probably rather do three monitors as opposed to two, the only problem my video card to my knowledge can only run two displays at a time, even though it has dvi,s-video,and vga.

A friend of mine from back in the day (wSx-Kilo.357) had a bad ass multi monitor setup.

dont use duel view because it just stretches the screen so half is on one monitor and the other half of the screen is on monitor 2, use clone view in your display settings... thats the only way for the same screen to be 2 monitors.

                          wouldn't that defeat the purpose?

ya, this would only mirror the image and limit you to the refresh rate of the primary monitor on both. the "stretch the window over both monitors" IMHO is really cheating. Because you can see much more than your opponents with a single display, regardless widescreen or not. Three displays is REALLY cheating, but will give you the best result as your "normal" quake screen would be in the middle, and the outer limits on the other monitors. But it would be interesting to test single player mode just to see how advantageous it would be. im not sure how to set up 3 monitors on one box unless SLI??
