Pink spikes

I have a Gateway FX Laptop , newest drivers installed, and using ProQuake and DarkPlaces.
I ping 50 most the time but about every 1-2minutes I ping 100 for 10seconds and its VERY choppy and hard to see. Any idea what could be causing it?

get this lil tool and all ping spikes will go away
