  • Quake Map .lit Files

    Hello.

I was wondering if anyone had the .lit files for the Quake One maps?

There is a link here: Quake 1 Retextured (woods)

    But the download isn't working.

    Thank you.

    EDIT:

Also if there were any really good way points for the original quake one maps?

Loathe as I am to indulge in shameless self-promotion, there is a .LIT pack for all of the original ID1 maps available here: http://www.quaketastic.com/upload/fi...h_May_2009.zip

This also includes a tool that will let you generate a .LIT file for any other map you might have (loathe as I am, etc...)

The pack is pretty nice, mh, even to someone who is a little critical of colored lighing overuse.

        Good job.

I did find the few instances of "pure" green, red, or blue light too intense, though, for example around the slipgates.

        I liked the yellowish torches.

edit, I now regularly use the pack.

edit: do the .lit files work in software rendered Quake?

                Hi MH,

Apologies for my Quake "newbieness" but do these work with glpro400.exe? if so, once I have copied the .lit files to my quake/id1/maps/ folder is there anything else I have to do to enable them?

                With thanks and kind regards

They will only work with a Quake engine that has been modified to support LIT files, which I don't think ProQuake has been. Otherwise they're absolutely standard.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Now if I can just get DirectQ to work maybe I can enjoy all that quake goodness..

Oh, I don't mind about being credited or not, it's just that I don't want people to get the impression that these are in any way official or endorsed, because they're not.
