Personally I'm not a big fan of runes for serious play but Shmack does seem to be one of the few places you can get a game. As most of us would probably agree some Quake, even Runes, is usually better than no Quake at all . Shmack has been problematic for several months now with several people commenting on it even from within the USA
        .
Don't forget that ffany and some of the Newyork servers have runes and hook that can be voted on using vote-runes and vote-hook if need be . There's also a RuneQuake server available at quake.thisserversucks.com:26007 with a slightly better ping

Sounds like something's up at cogentco.com for that kind of ping showing.

I had to play for a bit before I started noticing the issue. It's not a constant or obvious lag. I would say you never "see" it, but once every so often, a button doesn't respond in time, or you slide on a puddle of ice for not even a second. You're still affected by physics and such, so I don't think the server is stalling, but it's not receiving packets... even though it can send them out just fine.

It's pretty constant for me. 1 minute fine, 30 seconds lag, 1 minute fine, 30 seconds lag. That same exact pattern.

Static and I have played on the rare occasion recently, and noticed the same as above.
                    Vancouver - west coast
                    Some play to remember...
