Another tip:

Tell your ego to bugger off while you are attending the school of hard knocks. Then, when u graduate with a degree in Ownage, you can bring it back in to reap the rewards.

Runes is so not the game it started out as. Le sigh.

throw away stupid runes. Use trap runes right away and remove them. Keep good runes like protection for 5 seconds, vengeance, jack of all trades, etc. Hook around constantly and keep moving. Use the RL or gas grenades. GG

Bind +hook to a key, make sure you have strafe keys +moveleft and +moveright.

bind a +hook
bind b +moveleft
bind c +moveright

And make sure you have the rune keys bounds

bind d "rune-delete"
bind e "rune-tell"
bind f "rune-use" <--- important

Beyond that, watch others and use the hook for most movement.

Stick with the classic runes for the most part, IMO. Most of them seem to not be worth the time, aside from a few like Lumberjack which changes things up a good bit and is just fun - to the extent that you don't mind if you die because you had a laugh in the process.

I dunno how new you are to it, but it's Rider mode, which you access from the observer mode menu. It gives you the player's view. I think you hit 5? I dunno. I don't play runequake anymore actually

Also, quit your job or school. They are taking up too much of your time that could be spent practicing.

Can anyone here give me some guidance on how to be competitive in this game? At mos I play for 15 minutes until I get sick of dying. It seems the best way to get kills is being a rocket whore, but I'd like some other options. Thanks :d
