I did something different for my server, this is due mostly for safety reasons: I didn't use DMZ, but I setup the whole thing as a virtual machine in the router opening only the ports needed to connect and play. And this seems to work. Except for QView which loses trace of servers when server ip changes and the Quakeone feature. I don't think the server engine in Quakeone list needs specific ports to be opened. This should be somewhere else.

After reading your post, and trying to contemplate the issue. It makes zero sense, unless we sum the issue up to being a PEBKAC problem.

Have you setup anything inside your router? I know that hosting a Quake server + being behind a Router requires opening of ports ,and even opening of a whole slew of sockets of some sort.

If you have a spare PC of any calibur I recommend hosting it on the spare PC,and just stick that PC into DMZ mode (all unspecific traffic will be directed to that PC,this is the easiest route) in the router.

I've tried all of them, the problem is not in the dns host: it happens with all of them. Since I've asked to remove the servers from the list they are always up and running. I've chosen quad.homepc.it for it's shortness and for the localization (it), but had tried also quadclan.servequake.com (succesfully, but now down) as well as some other. All works until connected to Quakeone list. As soon as the dns appears there my router disconnects (read first post). Maybe this is due to my ISP or my ADSL connection that can't be managed. This don't happen with the server list on Quake1.net. Got to search a more in deep solution as soon as possible...

    Thanks anyway for your hints!

Setup an account with Managed DNS | Outsourced DNS | Anycast DNS first, its a DNS service for people with dynamic IP addresses , and it can be setup to automatically update your DynDNS address to reflect the constant changing Dynamic IP address you have.

So, now we can have quad.quakeone.com as example only , which points to your DynDNS address.

PS : WTF I was looking at the website, and they have changed thins around.

1st: Signup for the "Paid TRIAL" , then get your account setup / DNS chosen / CANCEL the Paid Services.

This will be the last time I ever suggest DynDNS to anyone, because seriously.

Please don't put [QUAD] servers in Quakeone server list

Hi all, for some unknown reason having the dns of my servers listed in Quakeone caused my internet connection to fail and I have to reboot my router to make it start again. As soon as I'm back online and I update my dns I get dropped again. I need to find a fix for this, but please, until then don't add [QUAD] servers in Quakeone server list. Thanks.
Working...
