  • UQE odd behavior

Hi guys, I'm getting some weird behavior from the UQE engine.

With cl_maxfps 59 the framerate gets locked around 45, making the game very jerky.

Now, if I open up a browser window before starting UQE... the framerate is properly locked at 59 and runs great ? This also messes up my gamma settings however, it reverses them. Whereas before lower gamma numbers might have made the game darker, now they make the game brighter.

Any ideas what is happening? Windows 8 (probably the culprit) Nvidia GT660

I dont think anyone actually uses that engine.
I thought it was a dead project. ?

Hmm I'm unsure, I'm new to Quake engines tbh. The only reason I wanted one was to add the soundtrack to the Steam version of Quake but I didn't wan't any graphical enhancements. Basically I was looking for the Quake equivalent of Chocolate Doom.

I just tested Quakespasm and noticed a similar quirk with fps cap, Darkplaces doesn't seem to have any issues but has an annoying flare on explosions and does not look good on low resolutions.

I'll try DirectQ, it might behave better.

        yes, its normal.
water pretty much tripples the amount of stuff that needs to be drawn.
the start map has about 4 different water surfaces all visible at once, occasionally combined with an extra mirror...
