Yeah, since it doesn't have the test command, it can't test servers when you step into the portal for the server you want. Geez, describe some more foqer.

I always use the test command.. I hate connecting to different servers and then you find out noone is there... Better to just test all of them before you decide on which one to join.

Gamma is in the color controls, since... thats what gamma is...
Ping in scoreboard already existed for QW gameplay in it because QW had it and NQ doesnt, but hes now added that just recently.
Cheatfree... eh... play with friends.

You should be able to adjust the Gamma in realtime by going to Options and then Color Control (I may have this name wrong slightly). There is a gamma slider bar, you may need to set hardware gamma control ON first, which is right above the slider bar.Originally posted by the_f0qerWhile we're talking about Darkplaces, it meeds support for
-the -gamma perimiter
-gamma command
Post back if you are all set on that.
In another thread here, LordHavoc posted that he is adding that. I'm sure a lot of people are eager to get that one.-ping in scoreboard
It certainly is convenient and I noticed it was missing from DarkPlaces within about 20 minutes of using it on the internet-the test command... this is most vital!!
But this is a secondary feature, it only used by maybe 20% of players. Let's not overload LordHavoc with suggestions
I've added to a list I've been keeping of things that are merely nice to have, but not essential to please the average joe.
(The test command is a command where someone can peek at another server to see who is there, you do like "test quake.shmack.net:26001" and see if someone is playing Rocket Arena. It is used regularly by a minority of players, but doesn't have anything to do with the satisfaction of game play.)
A mid-range goal -- 6 to 12 months, I'd guess -- is to build a server executable and make slight modifications to JoeQuake, QRack, DarkPlaces, possibly FitzQuake and definitely the existing ProQuake to support "cheat-free" style play for all of the mostly widely used engines for internet play.-I heard of support for a cheatfree module... that would kick some ass.
Such a server should be able be be queried by QStat, support native IP masking option, map download with compression, possibly report to a home base and be fully compatible with all major existing mods (or possibly modify existing ones if the engine isn't ProQuake) and require non-level playing field client features to be off.
This will come and is probably only 3 weeks of work as all of the above except #4 & #6 could easily be implemented (#3 is a breeze, hehe. Borrowed idea from another feature in JoeQuake), but there are more important things (real cool things) ahead of this because if you want "cheat-free" play, you do have the option of switching to ProQuake and going to one of the many servers running in cheat-free.
Except for Phathookups, most servers that get a substantial amount of play don't run in "cheat-free" mode, but a "cheat-free" mode is certainly nice to have.
The reason this will take longer is because if you are going to rethink the server, there are other features that should be added to the server and I'm sure that much brainstorming will come when the time is right.
