Why there is no r_clearcolor in darkplaces?

Sometimes I use noclip to get outside of the map and I see that the background solid color is black.

I attempted to change that color by modifying both r_clear and r_clearcolor to some numbers but then I discovered that both r_clear and r_clearcolor do not exist at all.

Why?
