I currently have 5 servers running QW - portland,OR - Seattle, Dallas, Saltalake and NYC. I was thinking of also running netquake on some of these. Is there a need for this at any of these locations? Or are the servers spread out properly as is?

  • #2
YES, everyone who sets up servers pretty much gives westies a big fuck you, thus we have servers in

TX,NY,GA,MO,and sometimes FL. We have actually excessive servers in Central and East. West is completely ignored, which is bad. Servers are not spread out appropriately!

UT,WA and OR would make for some great stuff for the westies..........

Edited/Added ; The only active mods in NQ are CRMOD,RuneQuake, and Clan Arena. If you could provide three NQ servers @ each of those locations, we would officially have servers across the entire spectrum of timezones in the USA.

Server is up but have some issues.

      Hostname: west.rocketkill.com:26000

Below is command line and some details

pqlinux -game crmod +hostname west.rocketkill.com -udpport 26000 -dedicated 16 -condebug

It connects to host then says 'proquake v39 compatibility mode enabled'

and stays in console. I know its connecting as I see the client IP on the Linux side.

      other things I've verified:

      Port is allowed through firewall
I only have QRACK- didn't test using a Proquake client

      Some other info:
      Proquake 3.90 Linux Server
      CRMOD Version: 6.5d
I added some extra variables in config per Mindz to match settings on Texas CRMOD. (this might need to be looked at some more)

Want to get this going and tested before I move on to the other servers. Thanks guys.

hmm add +map dm3 to your commandline?
type status in server console to see if a map is currently loaded

also make sure pq_cheatfree is 0

It working now . Turns out all UDP ports needs to be open for it to talk right - Only had 26000 at the time. Not the best- it will do. IF someone knows the ports its using Id like to lock it down some more. For now its fine- enough messing with it. Please test and report back any issues

Did some further testing with netstat and it seems to randomize ports between the 49951 range and 56455 range- It does change a couple thousands as you disconnect / reconnect. I modified the FW rules to only allow UDP ranges 40000 - 60000 as well as 26000 and can still connect.

                          Hi Gdr ,
Nice of you to host a quakeserver.

                          I ping 170-200 from Belgium.
Ping is ok but the server seems very unstable.(packetloss).
Anybody else got this problem or is it just me ?

What connection does the server use , upload ?

If the server is here to stay then I'm happy to add it to the quakeone serverlist.

I plan to keep it permanently. Concerned about the PL you are getting though. Will need others to confirm this. Its a 1GB link up/down. I will add one to Portland and Saltlake this week and have you test.
