Do you mean modelling and skinning?

Switch your engine to DarkPlaces and use either:

    1. Blender (freeware & open source)
    2. Milkshape (31 day trial)

And you can at least make your own MD3 models and you will not need registered Quake to do it not to make maps.

Again, this isn't really a modding forum and you are far more better off asking those questions at:

    http://www.inside3d.com
    http://www.quakesrc.org

And there are the irc channels where those guys hang out (don't have IRC, get Mirc)::

    irc://irc.anynet.org/qc
    irc://irc.anynet.org/darkplaces

This page may be of use to you for finding resources:

    http://www.quakeone.com/navigator/

Also check out the Quake Wiki:

    http://wiki.quakesrc.org/

/Quakesrc.org is back up. It was down for 2 days.

He posted at i3d a few days ago actually, and I gave him a fairly comprehensive answer, and others contributed... *shrug*

Well, did you know Inside3d.com's home page appears to be down? I get 2 PHP errors and no home page when I visit it, something to effect of ...

"Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/var/tmp/) is not within the allowed path(s): (:/usr/local/etc/httpd/inside3d.com) in /usr/local/etc/httpd/inside3d.com/checklogin.php on line 4"
He may have posted here again because it looked like Inside3d.com was down and he may have still thought that Quakesrc.org was down.

/Funny, both sites down-ish within the span of 4 days -- and I've never seen either site down ever. Cosmic scale oddity?

I3d's frontpage is down, forums.inside3d.com works just fine

Every now and then we get a hiccup like this, basically it just takes getting Randy's attention, and within a few hours its fine. I3d has never been down for long, and never the whole site.

          quakesrc.org has had problems before.

Looking at irc, apparently marv over at ugo, the network i3d is on, is changing things, and its broke some sites... So either marv will revert things, or Randy will adapt to the changes shortly.
