However, only DarkPlaces clients can connect to it. (Additional information: DPP7 is not compatible with qstat.org's Quake server browser meaning it can't be listed in, say, the QuakeOne.com server browser. Just extra information.)
You could run the "quake" protocol, and then ProQuake/Qrack/JoeQuake and other regular Quake clients could connect, but it is my understanding that you have a home-based and it's very unlikely that it would perform well without a fatpipe.
The regular Quake protocol ("NetQuake") only performs well on fat bandwidth dedicated servers.
I'm out of town but when I get back I'll see what options realistically exist for you.
Combined with your MOTD QuakeC thing and some of the other things you have discovered, you probably now see why a number of things in Quake are difficult to do.
I'm not familiar enough with Prydon Gate to know whether it is DarkPlaces-locked. If it isn't there is a chance it could run the Quakeworld protocol via ZQuake, and then DarkPlaces and ezQuake would in theory be able to connect. [Note: this is a risky proposition; I don't have any faith in things that haven't been tried successfully in the past.]
