i think you might like these packs i made
triple skins for id1 monsters
they allow you to have 3skins at same time for most of the ID1 monster models

and i dont know if you like to use hi-poly monster replacements as well, but if you do, you might like these too:
multiple skins for hi-poly monsters
they're packs that allow you to use multiple skins for the hi-poly monster models

Thanks splitterface. Can you make this model/skin trick work with the Player model and with alternate player models & skins? I assume this code would have to be added to Sevens SMC, and then added into Rquake progs.dat.

Don't know if it is bug or not, but when I'd started server for a MP game and accidentally got myself killed - after respawn I was bleeding and being surrounded by flies, even with 100% health.

Thank you for your post but I could not reproduce this behaviour.
I started a multiplayer game (chose "Start" map).
Was running to the Episode 3 entrance to grab the rocket launcher.
Then I killed myself by shooting at a near wall.
After I respawned I ran to that position and saw the dead player model on the floor.
Everything looks normal:
Flies are surrounding him and I could gib him with explosives.

I had no flies around myself nor leaving a blood path... hmmm.

Did this 5 times, everytime the same.
I am no multiplayer specialist. Did you do something different ?

Maybe you could reproduce this and tell me what you did.
That would be interesting.

Just tried one more time - it is need to be gibbed to reproduce, not to be only killed.
The easiest way to do at "Start" map is to grab Lighting and some cells, then to go into that bottomless pool and discharge while being in the water. After that I've been momentary gibbed. After respawn I started to bleed etc.

Now that the cirumcumstances are clear, I took a deep breath and cried out in despair:

PS: This bug is not a serious one. The fix is only needed for private multiplayer server.

no it cant be made for the player model, since seven didnt add multi-skin/multi-model support for the player model. for that to be possible seven would have to code in for multi-skin support for the player.

it can of course be done for other monsters & with other skins.
just tell me exactly which skins you'd want put in a pack and give me links to the skins, and ill make a pk3 with them for you

Yeah I'm just realizing how difficult it is to add Small mod compilation to Multiplayer Rquake Cooperative.

It has to be done one line of code at a time in the .qc files. Then I have to re-record my demos using the updated codebase. Jesus H Christ it would be so difficult.

I was wondering if I could still request the step-by-step tutorial on how to place effects in their proper place. I know you have just come off of a great deal of work on SMC, but I wanted to at least keep it in your thoughts for the immediate future if possible.

Yes, this is what I defenitely want to and will do.
You need (compared to weather effects tut) a lot more knowledge about effectinfo syntax.

But there are already many many external map effects available, that you can use as examples.

There is a long weekend (with national holidays) coming this weekend.
That will be a good time to do it...
