"DP Pretty Water" Update

Maybe one day we can convert all highres textures and skins to DDS. I am using the "super-highres" version of the Quake Reforged project, and when loading the Cthon skins it takes a LOT of time until the level is starting. Anyway, a topic for a different place.
Right now, I am fine with using Seven's shaders since he improved them and they look quite cool. Yet, Webangel's versions were always slightly better, so I'd like to be able to check them out anyway. I see new nvidia drivers have been released today, maybe those will make a difference (even though I doubt it).

Can't get it work!
I can't see any difference... So I think I must be doing soething wrong. I have the vissed maps (pak2.pak) and the dpwater.pk3 itself. I even tried using seven's config, but no use. The water itself is just transparent but same as in glquake. The slime isn't shown at all!! Do I need QRP for this to work or anything else?? Do I need to have RT world on?? I have it of since the frame is far from playable with it on. My system is: P Celeron 1.6 Ghz laptop, ATI Mobility Radeon x200 (DX9 compatible), 128 mb vram (shared), 1GB RAM. Is my system incompatible???

@hgdagon
open console, and type r_water 1
and if you dont have this set yet, be sure to also use r_texture_dds_load 1 to enable loading of DDS textures.are you curious about what all there is out there in terms of HD content for quake?
> then make sure to check out my 'definitive' HD replacement content thread! <
everything that is out there for quake and both mission-packs, compiled into one massive thread

@Splitterface
Didn't help I'll upload some screenshots in the evening. What else could be wrong?

hmm i unno. which darkplaces build are you using?
that would be the only thing i could think of really, that the build you are using might have some bugs in it and water might be broken in it
.
i dont know about darkplaces and ATI cards, if there are perhaps any problems known with them with DP.are you curious about what all there is out there in terms of HD content for quake?

And this is the contents of my id1 folder. Pak2.pak contains the vissed maps. config.cfg is Seven's config, unchainged. I use the March 1 build of DP, but I had the same problem with the previous December 22 build. I haven't tried the water on my other computer, because it lags even when running the bare quake (in DP), leave alone water, QRP, Reforged, or anything else...Attached Files

Hello hgdagon,
Dont be too sad to not be able to use the "Pretty water".
According to your mentioned performance issues, that you already have, it will most probably kill the rest of it.
It is a nice visual, but a little bit overrated compared to its loss of performance.
You can try Moon[Drunk]´s version with animation shader instead of r_water requiring performance heavy shaders. Or stick to the original beautiful Quake water. Quake Retexturing team also did replacement water textures if you are looking for higher res ones.
I dont know what the root cause is for your specific issue. Maybe your graphics card or drivers dont meet some shader necessary specifications...
Kind regards,
Seven
PS: Your last screenshot, showing your folder, is so low res that you cannot see a single ting

It's just that I'm making a repack, and want to have everything working. And yes my original image was 1280x800 and PNG. Here's another one.Attached Files

yeah i agree with seven, hgdagon
if your machine isnt powerfull id suggest not trying to use dp pretty water, it is very resource-demanding and is only worth it if you have a powerfull pc.
if not itll bring your performance down so much the game becomes unplayable pretty much.
.
also, yeah im thinking too it might be something about your graphics-card ,
that it might not support the needed functions for the water shadersLast edited by talisa; 03-11-2013, 12:54 PM..are you curious about what all there is out there in terms of HD content for quake?

I don't intend to play it right now. I'll get a powerfull PC sometime soon. I just need it working I already have 15 GB of Quake stuff in my laptop, and it could be more if not for the HDD limit I hope by Quake V (if any) they will release an updated version of Quake I and will take notice of the so far tottally perfect work by LordHavoc, QRP, and the rest of you guys)) And I hope that this time Germany won't mess up everybody's happiness (no offends, please)
Yeah.... I know I'm a dreamer ^_^
