The latest SVN (18-12-2010 21:03 Windows x64 version) breaks pretty water, at last on my machine :S
It works right with stable, I hope Lord Havoc is reading this, so they can fix it.
    The error message:
    Fragment shader compile log:
Fragment shader failed to compile with the following errors:
    Error: 35:396 : (Error#19 Redefinition Error: F
Error: Error(#373) 1 compilation errors. No code generated

    (Line offset for above warnings/errors:35)
GLSL Shader GLSL/Default.GLSL water failed! Some features may not work properly.

The video drivers: Catalyst 10.12a with a 5770 HD.

      Hello Bloodbat,

using the nightly builds is very dangerous !
It is nothing but a screenshot of the current work.

      Example:
Imagine someone is drawing/painting a big picture.
Today he draws the sky and the street, but got tired and went to sleep.
The picture with only sky and street will be saved as nightly build.

A guy called Bloodbat is watching this picture and asks himself:
What is this ? This is completely unfinished ! I dont like it.

Imagine, LordHavoc or his team is working until late midnight and goes to sleep.
In the middle of a major code change.

So, thats why LordHavoc gives us BETAs. These builds include at least some kind of finished changes.
So using the betas is a good idea.
But using the nightly builds is not.

Stable builds are rarely made, because the engine is continuesly under development.

As I stated a lot of times, I suggest the beta from 31st august 2010.
      Reason for this:
It has much better FPS compared to newer betas and includes big enhancements compared to latest "stable".

Be patient Bloodbat. I hope it will work again in the next beta.

      Kind Regards,
      Seven

Hahaha lovely story (I do wonder why a half painted square of the picture would get SVN-commited )
I do know what SVN builds are, thing is...I don't really know where to find the betas?
Also, this was intended as a sort of bug report, so, really, I'm being patient
In the mean time, where do I get the beta you mentioned?

This is the place to search: here

Dont get confused by the million files.
Every beta and stable versions are stored here.
And only the latest nightly build (its called "autobuild" for DarkPlaces).

Scrolll down and get this one.

          By the way:
LordHavoc will most probably not read these posts.
He is very seldom activ in this forum.
Use the IRC channel "#darkplaces on irc.anynet.org"
Or mail him. But before you do it, be a little patient.
He is a busy man. Emails mean extra work.

          Best wishes,
          Seven

inkub0 try to delete the actual cfg and start dp again and look if the problem is gone. I had the same problem, it was something inside my cfg.

anybody have any thoughts on how to run id1vis, or how else to re-vis levels on 64bit windows (win7 ultimate 64). This is officially the first time I've had an application that failed to run under 64bit

Are you running it in the id1 folder? On my other PC had no issues. If it's in the id1 folder run it as administrator.

seems that in most recent beta builds of DP, Pretty water doesnt work well

                          Dear all,

Bloodbat brought it on the table first (middle/end of december),
that LordHavoc is working on a deep code change in DarkPlaces,
and therefore "DP Pretty Water" doesnt work as it should anymore.

I told him to be patient (using a nice little metaphor)

                          Now, guess what:
EVERYTHING is working fine again !

                          Last "working" beta is 20100831beta2.
Then the newest betas have glitches / issues:
                          - 20101118beta1
                          - 20101118beta2
                          - 20101121beta1

But the actual autobuild is working excellent again.
(Always find the actual autobuilds here)

But as stated before, using autobuilds is risky, cause its just a screenshot of todays work.

                          And another thing:
LordHavoc gave us back our much needed FPS
I tested 3 maps from each:
                          - Quake
                          - Mission pack 1
                          - Mission pack 2
The only map with a slight FPS drop in newest autobuild is the Quake "Start" map.
All other 8 maps have more FPS (autobuild compared to 20100831beta2).

                          Thats good news.

One little negative point is to tell:
Since November´s beta build, our "DP New Teleport" shader looks different now.

But, there is always a solution:
I made a new texture to receive almost the exact same visual with the new DP builds.
(Compared to "DP New Teleport" shader from older 20100831beta2 build)
So, there is no need to worry.
If someone is interested in that new texture, post in the "DP New Teleport" thread please.

                          Kind Regards,
                          Seven

The middle pic interests me the most as it conveys interesting looking water. The other two didn't look as good to my eyes, perhaps the angle of the pic or not seeing it in motion. Will be interested to see your final work.
