Moving High Res Skies for DarkPlaces

I would like to make even higher resolution skies. Is there a way to do this by making the the texture
assignment non repeating, at least not repeat until the grid you map is complete.
For instance, as i look at the start map I see that it is taking about 9 blocks to cover the map.
If I have an image that I can divide into 9 blocks to cover the whole map, is there a way to call them in order so that it loops across the whole map as 1 image?WARNING

anyone else having the issue of their custom sky not showing up in all maps? im using a Moon(drunk) sky and with sevens rain its fantastic.. but in random maps it reverts back to the original id sky... a lil outdated and the contrast between it and how nice and shiny everything is now is pretty noticeable. plus i love the custom sky. any help would be greatly appreciated

Hello,
It is important to know that original ID1 maps use 1of2 sky textures:
- sky1
- sky4
Please download the complete list of textures from here to see which map uses which textures.
Mission Pack 1 (Hipnotic) introduces 2 more sky textures.
Find them in the mentioned file as well.
Have fun playing around with it.

Mkay, a double post here but I noticed that not all maps use the new textures (I think this is what kreaper was saying). Sometimes they'll use the default textures (eg. e1m1 uses stock Sky4 instead of new Sky4). This is only for Quake 1, haven't tried mission packs yet, and not really that interested in them either, to be honest.. I've only noticed this with Sky4, though, blue sky.

Hello Primeval,
If you see some maps use "classic" sky textures, you put them into the wrong subfolder.
As you know, there are only 2 sky textures in ID1:
- sky1
- sky4
Put your "new" sky1 and sky4 textures into your subfolder (if you use DP):
ID1\textures
Do not put them in "map-specific" subfolder of "textures".
If you already did, please delete them (look also in .pk3 files).
Then all maps will use the new ones.

I am still fiddling with my sky image mapping scheme with a bit of progress.
I can map from one frame to the 4 adjacent, but aligning them is bit of a chore.
Here I am getting seams showing.WARNING
