i made this thread to share HD textures i made for some of my favourite SP maps and episodes.
hope you all will enjoy the texture-packs and will enjoy replaying these amazing maps in full HD glory!

NOTE: all of these texture-packs require the texture-packs for quake AND both mission-packs
from QRP to be present in your ID1 folder : :: Quake Revitalization Project :: Downloads ::
(my texture-packs do not include those textures to keep file-size low)

hmm..... you would have to ask seven about adding the functions from for snow to drake's QC,
which allow adding rain&snow and similar effects into maps through use of ent-files.

if he does, ill definitely look at adding snow to the map

Hello Blood Vengeance,

Unforgiven has snow effects by default already.
Dont you notice it when playing ?

Tronyn included only the standard Drake progs.dat into the unforgiven download, not the special darkplaces version, which has particle snow instead of sprite snow (like in standard version). But independent the engine you use, you should see sprite snow when playing the 2nd unforgiven map.


If you want to see/use particle snow when playing with Darkplaces, you need another progs.dat. Please read carefully this post: here

It shows the timeline and relationship between tronyns maps and the Drake development ! That is important to understand which Drake version is used in which tronyn map.

Unfortunately the last Drake source code was released at the same time that unforgiven was released. That means you can only use mods, based on the released Drake source until Unforgiven.

Now that you know this, you can download this mod (and use it if you want) to play all tronyn maps until unforgiven (see the time table linked above again)

You can use the below .ent file (optional) to have particle flames/candles and double snow quantity in tronyns 2nd map of unforgiven. Set the snow quantity to whatever count you want (but I suggest not to go much higher due to fps impact).

Lot of time I don't play Unforgiven, didn't remember about snow. I think I'll replay it soon, I loved it: a mixture of Quake, Hexen 2 (monster, ambient) and Serious Sam (big arena with tons of monsters and bossfights).

just moved both of the texture-packs for 'Conference of the Shamblers' and 'Red777' to this thread instead

imo makes much more sense to have those texture-packs linked here instead,
and to keep the other thread purely for 3D models and HD upgrades for quoth-items

also thanx for the ent-file seven!

i increased the snow-amount to 8x as much as normal,
and now it actually looks like serious snowing instead of a flake here and there

That's really cool. Only a question: I've never played Metal Monstrosity (yes I know it's a shame) even if it's on my list of maps to be played, but I've heard it's quite FPS intensive. My PC is not a monster, but absolutely not a crap (1 year old), so I hope it will run smoothly on my PC. With my last PC Arcanum ran really slow instead, never tested with my current machine. Hell, there's a lot of maps/episodes I've played that almost don't remember, want to play Arcanum again!

A lot of these make very good replacement textures for Rogue

That is mainly what I've decided to use them for, and they look very good, especially the doors!

metal monstrosity being FPS-intensive? maybe by 1996 quake standards
so its not at all, and you'll be able to play it just fine

Ugh, I have a strange bug with Metal Monstrosity: Enforcer is invisible! I use Tabun model, works fine with every other map/mod, but this time no!

put both the standard enforcer pk3 and the quoth-enforcer pk3 in your quoth folder, NOT in your metmon folder

i had the same problem too. moving both pk3s for enforcer to the quoth folder will fix that


having the enforcer pk3s inside metmon folder will make enforcers invisible because darkplaces
will first read the pk3's inside the metmon folder and then it will read the pak's inside quoth folder
which includes a different enforcer-model which will override the enforcer-model in the pk3s

placing the pk3's inside your quoth-folder will make sure the pk3s get loaded AFTER the quoth pak's
