  • Enhanced textures for Quake Maps - spd_v2 Doom II Start by Speedy

    Hi everyone,
    I've converted and implemented the spd_v2 Doom II Start Map by Speedy in to a little fun project I'm working on and wondered if anyone has any high quality textures that I could use. I've scanned through the QRP release (just in case) and unfortunately couldn't find them so I'm assuming they are custom textures. The trouble is after extracting the textures included in the map, adding normal, spec and height maps, and tweaking them they look pretty bad and washed out. The texture list is as follows:

      Thanks Baker, you're a star and its great to see you back. What would we do without you !
      I'm no graphic artist but just doing half a dozen textures, via that link, the difference was instantly improved. Just for completeness I'll work my way through the rest and post a pic once completed.
      While you are on, I must say I really liked the textures you had substitued in EngineX as it freshened up the levels, made it more vibrant whilst retaining the atmosphere and made it feel more up to date. You certainly have an eye for the look and feel of the playing experience and I tend to share the view that moving forward in that way is the way to go.
