I've been testing the waters with my modeling skills using gmax, whaddya think?
Unfortunatly I wasnt paying attention to the image guidelines of Quark so I can't convert this model from md3 to mdl, heh, noob mistake!
This is my first model I've ever made for Quake. I've done VERY little 3D in the past so i'm pretty jazzed at the results personally

so what did u do? make the skin more than [was it 450?] units in the up/down direction?

No I can't. I was following the tutorial sdo close when I was setting things up that I didn't add the important "saving" folder to my storage device.

Its just a cylinder though. I'm sur eI can make another model in less time now, also that was basically a rough draft, I had planned on making it a bit more realistic.

I'll remake this mdl and post it within the next couple days, I reformated/installed Windows XP so I have to reinstall Gmax.

alright i got it converted to a lower color scheme

one is a 8-bit .pcx file

the other is a 16-bit .bmp file

i hope this helps, BTW what are u using for a conversion, i have gotten quark to do it a few times, but it hasn't been the best results [the texture file has been too big :/]
