      • Cool wizard, very detailed - the textures are looking so sharp that you have the impression, that you can touch them!

Can't wait to see it (and beat it) on my rig!!

BTW: What are you doing in the "real life" guys? Something with graphics?

        • <-- Loves that wizard skin. I wonder how the Ogre looks like since it is one of the most controversal discussed Monsters in Quake when it comes to reskinning.

                • I dont think the row of teeth, or whatever those are looks all to great, and the "wings" and "horns" I dont think should be scales like the rest. Maybe the wings should be more like those spikes sticking out of the shoulder, or more similar to the texture of the chest area, I dunno. and I dont know what to do about the horns.
But all in all I have to say, the amount of crispy clean detail in this skin is fucking amazing.
Great work, dont let my criticism fool you, I certainly could do no better.

                  Oh and the backside...perfect.

                          • You tease us so! :-(

The scrag and soldier both look astounding to me, perfect.

One question I had: how can you get Dark Places to render detailed skin textures? When I was trying to upscale some textures for use with my coop mod, I couldn't get Dark Places to use more than around 512x pixels worth of texture. Loading in a 2048x texture was no more detailed than a smaller one, and would blur as I moved the camera right up to it.

Your scrag screenshot looks more detailed than what I was able to get into my Dark Places. :-/

                            Edit:

Is there a reason these forums don't use standard emoticons? :-) :-| :-/ :-( etc. do not work, as they do on every other forum I've ever seen on the Internet.

Low resolution models is the most likely reason.

                              • I've edited the scrag to appear more aggressive (eyes, etc.)

Yep, it's our free-time and a fun hobby too

I really hope to live up to the expectations

                                @Samus_Aran
Well, Darkplaces has many graphical features, but you need to feed it with already detailed textures to take advantage of them. If you upscale a blurred skin, you only obtain a bigger blurred skin, because the engine then re-stretches it to fit the model.
If you want some enhancements, starting from an existing skin, you can process it in photoshop, creating specular maps and normal maps (loadable in darkplaces). I'll make you an example if you want.

                                bye
