      • I actually gotta disagree about the Scrag- I think he's awesome- and he strangely looks like he's got a sort of wizard's beard too (which matches his filename).
Check out my awesome Deviant art page!
        Quake fanart (obviously included)!

Hehe, this post makes me want to see a bearded scrag. With ear-rings and a nose piercing!
Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

                • Wow, the Knight looks very faithful! A great interpretation of the original textures!! Guys, you really rock!

It doesnīt matter how long it takes (also it is very very very hard to wait), i will wait for sure!

                  • You said it well and we did it before too (maybe not so clear), but it's good to repeat it once in a while: these skins are our interpretations of the "well-known" quake monsters.
This means that some differences could appear, just because our references are very limited, mainly consisting of the original blurry low-res skins.

We searched for artworks eventually made by ID, but it seems they're not available.
Now, what exist that we may use are a bunch of fan-art and descriptions in Lovecraft's books, however both are prone to "interpretation" about their degree of relation to Quake.

In the end, the way we've chosen is to stay faithfull as much as possible, but with the freedom to take a few licenses.
Our last Scrag, in particular, is born from the idea to render it like a more horny creature... (not a sexual machine)

SAID THAT, we prefer to please you more than us, so we've retouched this scrag a bit, while another version is WIP (well, it already was, but it want't announced yet ).

                    • I am big H.P. Lovecraft fan and i have read 90% of his books and short stories.

I think, you are doing a good job of "new-interpretating" the original QUAKE skins, but i think it is better, that you (Alfader & Nergal) are adding your interpreation of the skins to them - with some details, that you add because you want it to do this that way. That gives the skins YOUR PERSONAL NOTE, your REFORGE! And, i hope i can speak for all here, we are loving it! I personally love your work, the way you style the monsters - i think, your project is one of the important ones, if it is not THE IMPORTANT ONE! It will be the very first time, you can enjoy QUAKE with HIGH-RES world textures, awesome DarkPlaces lightining, realistic water and last but not least your HIGH-RES skins! That all makes the game immortal for the future!! And you are doing a great job to realize that!

Every time you release some new screenshots, i am looking forward to that day, they all become available.

BTW: How do you plan to release your finshed work? Maybe you release the skins for the QUAKE base game, when they are done, after that the ones for DOE and at last SOA? Or do you plan to release all of them when all is finshed?

But remember: I CANīT WAIT!!!!! So decide well!

                      • The scrag was beautifully done : ) I had a few issues with it, but it was phenomenal work

All the same, I cant wait to see the new one! Thanks guys, for your sincere desire to please the fans,
you've put forth way more effort than I think we deserve, and we're all very appreciative

                        • Out of curiousity, which license will your skins be released under? I'm curious if they will be compatible with open source game releases or not. These skins combined with a high res fan-made 3D model would be absolutely stunning.

                          • Ive never heard of it done the other way around, but I think a new model...would need a new skin

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it would take more effort to try to use those skins atop new models than it would to reskin.

                            oh and

                              14. What is the licensing information for the textures?

These textures are free to use in any project, be it commercial or non-commercial, on the condition that the work or the derivative product mentions the URL ( Quake Reforged ) and name of this project (Quake Reforged Project) in the credits, also including thanks to everyone else in the About section, and who composed the material for this project... In case your project does not have a suitable credits section, you must include with your product a file titled "readme" or "licensing".

Only for "Bestiary Project" , skins of monsters:
Our projects are delivered to you under the GPL license, in other words, you can “modify” our work, but you have to 1) inform us, 2) credit us as the original source of your derivative work. It seems harsh but it isn’t, really, our sole concern is to prevent someone else to ruin our efforts, in fact we believe that this kind of license may be helpful for the community: for example, if you want to translate the instructions in your language, drop us a mail, then we can also credit you for your help. Then, this is the only way to keep track of the usage of our work: if you want to use it in your mod, don’t be afraid to ask, we would be happy to bless you with our consent and also sneak-peek your mod before everyone else. Other aspect of “modification” may be discussed together, while “attribution” will not.
Remember: our work is available for the sack-emptying price of € 0,00 !! (read: free)
(The terms of license may change).

I donīt think, that we need some new models for QUAKE. The low polys is a part of, a feeling for me, when i play QUAKE. The skins are so highres, that you do not notice the low poly count.
