  • Mod for Fantasy QTDM Tournament

As some have already heard, theres a Q1 Team DM Tournament called the "Fantasy Quake Team DM Tournament 2010" coming up, mimicking existing fantasy sports league, and featuring a vote for captains, and a drafting process to build up teams.

CRMod has been the main mod which, started by Paul Baker, and continually developed by people such as clan Elohim, JPG, and Slot Zero, which was used for hosting well-known TDM tournaments such as Red Annihilation, Clanring Tournament 3, PGL, and NAQL.

However it has been around 7 years since it has been updated.

In addition, CRMod had some of the following limits to full DM play:
    • Unable to vote random spawns
    • Unable to vote weapons-stay
    • Speed caps, thus mitigating bunny hopping
    • Some code exploit which disallowed players entering a paused game from firing

To address some of these limits to the full potential of DM play, I have been working on a revised CRMod, using the available version 2.2 Elohim crmod.

I have also adapted it towards the upcoming Fantasy Quake Team DM Tournamnt 2010, so it will feature the ability for team captains to login mid-game and get team scores tracked, and rankings updated onto a webpage (for a preview on how this would look, visit http://q1.atspace.com/rankings.html).

Additional features which have already been added are as follows:
    • Ability to vote weapons-stay
    • Ability to vote random-spawns
    • Ability to vote ticrate
    • Eyecam and chasecam supports show_speed 1
    • Pre-match, all weapon, god mode, like in QuakeWorld's KTX mod
    • Uncapped movement speed, allowing full acceleration bunny hopping with sys_ticrate 0

    Features to be added:
    • pq_teamscores support ADDED
    • A more thorough match stats output such as Power-up stats, Backpack stats (currently has weap efficiency, frags/fragged) ADDED

As soon as the engine for the mod is uploaded onto the site(12 hour work-around time), you will be able to play-test a alpha-beta version of the mod at ny.clanring.tk port 26000.

Avalanche had a word about possibly hosting the mod on Dallas, TX servers, which would be a good location for most pingers.

However this is just a alpha-beta mod and doesn't include the full features like Power-up stats/Back-packs saved, and pq_teamscores.

These features are intended to be added soon.

In the meantime, you can signup for the draft for the Fantasy Quake TDM Tournament 2010, hosted bv BA, at http://qfantasy.atspace.com (shorter url for http://nqrevival.netii.net/fantasy).

    Regards,
    Daniel

    1. Spawns are already random. If they weren't, I'd have lots more frags.
    2. Nobody is going to play with weapons stay unless we suddenly start using a map other than DM3 for 4on4 games. Weapon stay makes DM2 and DM6 viable 4on4 maps...shit did we use DMM3 on DM2? I thought we did. Kimp you probably know.
    3. Nobody is desperate to bunny hop in the NQ community. If they were, they would play QW. It's not like you're parting the red sea for us here bud.
    4. That pause thing is annoying but how often are people really getting disconnected during games nowadays?

You can always expect kimp to disconnect mid-game if he decides to play.
