    Hi everybody! My name is Sam, I've been a fan of the whole Quake franchise since its beginning, and will never forget the first time I tried Quake... it was wonderful!

    I'm so excited about the Reforged mod that I've started working on a new mod completely, like Hipnotic's or Rogue's ones. It's name is Quake | The One, and it will be heavily centered over the 'base' ambience style.

    I will soon post some screenshots of the maps (would be cool to see them in 'reforged' settings)

    Have you got something that you feel was missing from the original maps, something that you would like to try? Make me know...

    Hey there!

    Good to have someone not only devoted to Quake 1 but the whole Quake franchise! Welcome aboard!

    Interesting things you're saying, I remember playing through Quake a few times and finally decided what I didn't like about the base themed levels, they felt way to generic and gimmicky for SP maps, there was no real feel that it use to be a base, but more like the feeling of just a Quake level with no real rhyme or reason to the feel of the map.

        Oooh, nice! Pleasure to have you!
        Ok, there are only a few things I missed in the original quake

        1- more variety of levels (either plain base or plain castle- no more surrealistic settings- even if they ARE still castles or bases in some sense

        2- no attempt to mix base enemies with other ones more (especially in more gothicky maps for some reason- the grunts and enforcers REALLY add a lot of dimension to gameplay)

        3- a lack of enough medium-level monsters (you go from enforcers/knights (almost medium) all the way up to ogres, deathknights and fiends who take buckets of ammo to bring down- yet THEY fill the role of medium enemy- which is silly- there need to be a few guys who don't take quite as much damage filling these roles. also, MORE hitech enemies!

        4- Heavier weapons- Armagon Laser cannon/Plasmagun from the Quoth mod were good examples, as was the shredder from Q-Zone (that ones a bit vague, don't worry).
        Also0 BFGs have never been tried much before in serious mods
        Possibly replace some of the more useless standard quake weapons (maybe using Rogue alternate ammo types- eg pistol)?!?

        5- too much emphasis on gothic (or worse, egyptian temples) and hell in most expansions- not enough on twisted, psychotic alienish interdimensional under-earth lovecraftian stuff.

        Sorry- went overboard (don't worry about it)- anyway, should be interesting to see how you go! Looking forward to it.

            i agree a bit more mingle would have been intresting, but thats what custom sp maps are fore . although the dog works good in any element because it looks soo messy and effed over

            nice to hear of a new mission MC_Sam it sounds like fun

            ...shrimp gumbo on rice?

              How many of you use 'reforged' textures? I'm almost convinced that the original ones are more scary and appropriate for the mood of the mod.

              Soon I'll post a link to a beta of the first level, D1M1 "Dead On Arrival", it starts with a ride on a subway train, something not seen in Quake until now, I suppose.

                Fully agree MetchSteekle- a mix is very important.

                Duamutef- I use reforged- I personally like them much more than the originals.
                By the way, the first level, is it in a dark subway? That would be cool- be careful of the train itself because there's really not much to do in one of those (except walk to the other side)
